I move fastly and put my phone back into my purse. I'm lucky the gang studio is only 10 minutes away from the house. I rush down the stairs and see Daniel on the living room couch. Hopefully he doesn't ask any questions.
"Where are you off to?" Daniel asks suspiciously.
Whoops, I should've been less suspicious. "Oh, I'm gonna go to Starbucks!" I exclaim, worst lie ever.
"Alright," He spoke.
I guess that went well? As I'm about to head out the door he gets up and walks towards me.
"What's going on?" I ask. Now I'm the one that's suspicious.
"Would you want to grab a coffee sometime tomorrow night?" He beamed.
Oh my gosh, was he asking me out on a date? "Yes of course!" I rejoiced, I probably look so stupid right now.
"Well see you then," He added.
"Bye." As I lock the door I do a little dance, woohoo! He asked me out! I think... He did ask me out, right? Who am I kidding, he totally did! I was so beyond excited, but I needed to go to the studio now. I really hoped Jayden was okay. I guess being a gangster does mean you get into a lot of trouble. But then again, he's one of the strongest people I know, he's probably fine. I grab my car keys from my purse, unlocked the door, and began driving.
At the studio
I walk into the studio quickly and see Priya. "Where is he?" I ask frantically. She opens the door to another big room.
"Over here, he just woke up." She says leading me to the back of the room.
I see him laying down, his eyes are closed. "Oh my gosh..." I gasp. He has blood all over his face, and something that looks like it could become a scar on his left cheek. "Jayden?"
His eyes slowly open as he uses his strength to lift himself up from lying down.
"I'm fine." He whispers.
"No you're not. What happened?" I ask turning around seeing Adam.
"He got into a fight with some street thugs. One of em had a gun and tried to shoot him. Luckily they missed." Adam answers.
"They are a bunch of bastards. I'll show them what I can do." Jayden grunts.
"Take it easy Jay." Adam reminds him.
"I'm getting them back for what they did to me."
"That doesn't seem like a great idea."
"Who says I can't?" Jayden looked tired, but I can tell he was trying not to show it.
"Get some rest bud." Adam pats his back.
"I agree with Adam," I say, "you should rest."
"Nobody was asking you, Dixie," Jayden says firmly to me.
"Nobody needed to ask in order for me to talk." I blurted. Those were some of the first times he didn't say anything. And believe me, Jayden always has something to say.
He rolls his eyes at me.
I pause and look at him. He seems hopeless and weak. I've never really seen him like this before. "Please Jayden, just rest for a few minutes, they hurt you real bad," I say softly.
"Fine," he mutters.
I walk out of the room feeling somewhat sorry for him, I could tell he was slightly embarrassed. It didn't make me think of him differently though, after all, he did kiss me. It might happen again someday, part of me hopes it does. He was so cute, so dreamy, and- oh gosh, do I like him? No way. If I did, I would've declined what Daniel said to me. I definitely wouldn't have reacted that way with Daniel asking me out. What if one day Jayden asks me on a date? But no, I couldn't think like that. I'm going on a date with Daniel, and I'd enjoy every minute of it without thinking about Jayden. But if that's true, then why do I keep bringing him up?
