                                                                Daniels POV

I was so ready to go on a date with Violet. She seemed nice, normal. Believe me, I could use some normal in my life right now. I liked her a lot. On the way there, I could feel her staring at me. She probably thought I was attractive so I didn't mind much. I'd never tell her my secret even if we continued going on dates. Then again, maybe she was trustworthy. After all, everything was going pretty well, until... Ring ring. Is that my phone? Seriously. I look at the contact, Ethan. He has such bad timing. I know I have to answer though. So I get up in my seat "I need to take this, I'll be back" I say to Violet.

"Take your time," She says smiling. She definitely had one of the best smiles.

I pick up the phone. "Bro are you kidding me."

"What?"

"I can't talk, I'm sorta busy."

"Too bad, Hunter needs you ASAP." Ethan insisted.

Hunter? Seriously. He always gets me into trouble. "Can't."

"Sorry bro but he needs you right now," Ethan commands.

Crap, I kept thinking. My first date and it's already ruined.

"Gimme a second," I respond.

"You don't have a second. Don't you get it?"

"No I don't, and I'm on a date right now," I murmured. I could see Violet looking at me, and I didn't want her to be suspicious.

"Damn, too bad. We need you right now." Ethan hissed.

"Why is this so important that it can't wait later?" I question.

"The police found the guns. Apparently, they got a warrant to check the place and.."

I start walking to the back of the coffee shop where nobody could hear me. Before he could finish I cut him off, "you removed all the fingerprints before that right?"

"I think.." He pauses sounding unsure.

"What do you mean you think?!"

"I didn't have enough time okay? Just get your butt over here. You can convince them nothing is wrong."

"Convince them? What are you talking about?" I continued. Something about this didn't add up.

"Come on, I don't have all day."

"Alright alright, I'll be there," I mumble. How could I leave on my first date with Violet? This isn't going to be good. I walk towards her.

"Hey, are you okay?" She asks me kindly.

"Something came up with the family," I say trying to sound believable.

"Oh okay.." She pauses.

God, I feel so bad. "Sorry again, gotta go!"

"It's alright."

I kept replaying what happened. I should've given her an uber, even though she refused. I begin driving in my white 2021 Toyota 4 Runner car. Even though I left early, I think it went pretty well. She seems nice, and she sure is good-looking. She'd never suspect anything and the excuses I make up aren't that bad, but now I'd have to deal with whatever Hunter wanted me to do.

Present

I walk into the underground bunker and see Ethan standing there, however, no traces of police officers being here.

"What's up?" I ask. Hunter walks up to me. "Alright, what's going on?"

"A date huh?" He questions me.

"What's your deal, I left. Ethan said the police were here."

"Well, Ethan lied."

"What the hell?!" I hissed.

"You've been excused, Ethan," Hunter calls out, and Ethan leaves the room. "No dates allowed. Rules remember?" Hunter reminds me.

How did he know I was on a date before Ethan called me? "She's a nice person okay?" I finally say.

"Too bad, break up with her."

"What?" Now I was really shocked.

"You know the rules. No relationships. You focus on a task, and you make money." Hunter fumed. "No distractions."

"She's different," I explained.

"So you're choosing a girl over mom then huh?"

God, I hate him. "Don't you dare bring mom into this!" I snapped at him.

"Just looking out for my little brother." He smirks. That was all I could deal with today, I struck at him, and punched him right in the face. He fell down but regained his balance quickly.

"Don't you start with me, Dan," He got himself into a punching position, of course, Ethan had to come back at that time.

"Yo bro chillax!" Ethan breaks up the fight, I probably would've won. The relationship between me and my older brother is strange, he's the main head of this whole gangster group. I guess that's the main reason I joined in the first place. My mom has stage 2 lung cancer but she's getting better. The only way I can afford her hospital bills is if he pays me. One of the main reasons I joined the gang. I hold lots of resentment towards my brother, he doesn't want to pay off her hospital bills and my dad isn't doing too well. He spends most of his time at work so he'd never suspect that his older son was a gangster, but now I was too. As for my mom, she'd either be in our parent's house lying down or at the hospital (mainly in the hospital though). Meaning I have to go undercover and do their dirty work, so that's how I became a gangster, and I'd never tell anyone.

"You're a gangster. You're gonna break up with that girl if you want to keep affording moms hospital bills." Hunter finally says. "Unless of course if you have a better way to make money." He marveled. He really is a pain in the ass.
