Jaydens POV
Everything flashed before my eyes, I remembered the first time I had killed somebody. That was an accident, but I remembered the feeling. The feeling in my gut as I realized what I had done. But this, this feeling was even worse. Knowing that everyone knows I killed him. Knowing Dixie knows, she looked terrified of me. Would she hate me? Hell, I bet everyone hates me.
"All of you get out of that bank right now through the back," Priya says again through my earpiece. The bank manager is beside me looking shocked.
"This never happened," I mumble looking at the manager. He nods as he looks horrified. I couldn't even look at his face any longer.
We made it out of the bank safely, there were no police cars at the scene, everyone is quiet for the first five minutes of the drive but Priya breaks the silence.
"What were you guys thinking?" Priya spoke.
Adam chimes in, "Dixie went upstairs for no reason at all. What was she thinking?"
"Oh I don't know, maybe I wanted to know what the hell was going on?!" She belted.
"Yeah well you doing that made that man run, and that's why Jayden shot him." Adam fumes.
"Oh, so this is my fault now?" Dixie snaps.
"When you think about it, sort of yeah."
Priya looks at each of them, "guys this isn't helping anything-"
"Jayden killed him," Dixie says looking at me disgusted. "It's not my fault."
"Jayden wouldn't have killed him if the man didn't run in the first place!" Adam hisses. "The reason he ran was because you were coming back from the bathroom." He puts quotation marks when he uses the word 'bathroom.'
"Wow... You're really blaming his dumbass actions on me."
"It's not entirely his fault Dixie."
"Seriously? Are you trying to make himself feel better about taking someone's life by putting the blame on me?!" She shouts. It goes silent for a second. "I don't even know how you guys live with yourselves." She mumbles.
"Or maybe you think you're always right," Adam reported.
Priya steps in again looking at me, "Jayden knew exactly what he was doing pulling that trigger. That's on him. Nobody else but him."
That hit me hard, probably because I knew it was true. It's my fault, I killed him. I don't even know the damn man's name or anything about him but I killed him. Maybe that's what made it so easy, not knowing who he was. Not knowing if he even had a family.
The rest of the car ride was silent until we got back into the studio. I see Dixie as she signals me to come to talk. This probably isn't going to end up well. I had to say something, "Look I'm sorry-"
She cuts me off right away, "we're done." She pauses, "Us, whatever we had and whatever that was is done."
Those were the words, the words I never wanted to hear. She was one of the first girls I've ever felt something for, but now that's all gone. Because of what I did. Because my dumbass self decided to kill a person. I couldn't live with myself after this. I killed someone. I couldn't even get caught because we covered up our tracks. It's my fault. I ruined it. I ruined everything.
The next day
I needed to go out and clear my mind from all that bull that happened yesterday. There was a coffee shop that took a few minutes to walk to. I liked being there to get my mind off of things.
Once I sit down I see a familiar face, or maybe I'm just hallucinating. There was a guy, looks about my age, I could see a bit of myself in him. He's definitely not a gangster though. Guess he caught me staring behind, so he invited me to sit with him.
"Yo," I spoke blandly.
"Hey man, noticed you just standing there." The guy says.
"Yeah yeah, I was deciding what to order."
"Ahh, alright." He speaks.
"Any recommendations?" I ask looking at the menu.
"You more of a coffee guy I'm guessing?"
"Spot on." I chuckle a bit.
"Flat white coffee is what I'd recommend to you. Tastes great too."
"Noted," I speak looking at his half-empty flat white coffee.
"By the way," he pauses for a second, "will you remain mysterious, or do you have a name?"
"Hah, I go by Jayden," I tell him, "you?"
"My name is Daniel." He says taking a sip of his flat white coffee.
"Cool."
