Dan was there for me. He always was, I guess, but nothing was ever serious enough for it to come up. But now I knew that he would do anything for me. I gave him a small smile and laid my head on his shoulder. He wrapped his strong arm around me, protecting me, and I shut my eyes. We had woken up at 7am, which was much too early for us. We fell asleep like that, protecting each other from the monsters of our minds.

We woke up around the same time and got up to make cereal. We walked to the kitchen slowly and poured cereal and milk into two bowls, then sat back down on the couch. Together. Like it should’ve always been. The two of us, together. We had always been so close, brothers even, but I had always known there was something more. Whenever we did a video together, we would sit close, making as much physical contact as could be considered ‘just friends’. We would tackle each other into hugs, draw on each other's faces, and the fans always believed it was just us being good friends. Maybe it was that before, but now it was so much more. Today we would be filming another video with the two of us. Hopefully the fans wouldn’t notice anything different between us.

We filmed the video, just as close as we normally were, except this time, it was because we loved each other. We joked about our cat whisker fetish, said some things in American accents, did our normal things as always. After we turned the camera off, Dan turned to me and looked into my eyes seriously.

“We should tell them, Phil,” he said, a quiver in his voice. “If they find out otherwise, they’ll be furious with us.”

“Yeah, but what if they stop liking us because we’re... together?” I said, putting my hands over his on his legs. “What if we lose all of our fans?” I looked deep into his brown eyes, looking for an answer.

“They won’t. They write fanfiction about us already, I think they’d like it, in fact, if it was canon,” he smirked, using his tumblr terminology in real conversation.

“But-”

“We’ve just got to tell them. They won’t be angry, trust me. You do trust me, don’t you?” he asked, staring at me with his puppy dog expression.

“With my life,” I said honestly. “Alright, we’ll tell them. In the next video we make together, we’ll tell them the truth.”
