Chapter Twenty -Three-
Lacey looked shocked, but closed her eyes and kissed back, her lips slowly parting from mine after a few moments. "What was that for?" she asked confused. "I'm sorry you.. you just looked so beautiful." I felt stupid all I could do was stand there dumb founded. "No..don't be sorry, I liked it." Before I could say another word Lacey gripped my face kissing me full force, her tongue swirling around my mouth as they intertwined.
I closed my eyes feeling her hand run its way up the side of my arm, up my back roughly and then back to my face. I wrapped my arms around her waist pulling away kissing her neck gently. Lacey paused looking at me. "Sorry I just don't want to move to fast you know" Lacey said biting her lower lip. I nodded brushing my brown hair off my shoulder copying her, biting my lower lip as well.

The silence between Lacey and I as we walked down the busy streets of New York City grew more and more. Even the loudest sounds couldn't help the long silence we both stayed. Finally I couldn't help but it I had to say something. "So what exactly was that, what just happened that is?" I finally blurted out. Lacey turned facing me as we both kept our pace walking along the side walk. "I'm not sure exactly." She looked confused. I almost felt like maybe I should have the answer seeing as how I initiated the kiss.
"I don't regret it, if that's what you're asking." Lacey finally fully answered my question for me. I nodded smiling slightly. "Good neither do I." It felt good to say and hear those words out loud. I had felt an instant connection with Lacey I knew that, hopefully she did as well. I looked down seeing a text from Ava.
"Still on for lunch today?" I had totally forgot about the lunch with Ava and Lacey for the wedding planning. I text her back "I'm still on." I turned to Lacey still walking. "Ava asked me about lunch today, are you still coming?" I asked curiously. Lacey looked like she had to think about it for a second then nodded "Yes of course, will you let her know?" I nodded sending another text. "Lacey says she's still on for today as well." I knew Ava would be happy, she hardly had any girl friends or family members that she was close to.
"Great can't wait see you at 1:00pm my house ok? So you ladies can help me out Lol." Ava replied back. I laughed a little picturing Ava's face.
"Sounds good see you then."
I hit send as the message went through. "Is 1pm ok with you? Ava wants to meet at her house so we can help her" I laughed slightly. Lacey nodded again "Yeah one is good."
As we came up to where my apartment complex was I walked ahead into the doors and to the elevator, pressing the button and waiting. "Ava's excited I can tell, she doesn't have many close girl friends or family, Sadie and I are the closest girl's on her life and Sadie's hardly around due to the kids and Aaron." Lacey smiled a little. "I've never had many girl friends either, well friends in general.
I guess I never really had time for them, even in high school I was too focused on my career and finding myself."She said. "Ava and I pretty much we're each other's only friends for most of our lives, a lot of my friends moved away."
I walked into the open elevator doors, Lacey following behind me, as the shut behind us. "Do you like your neighbors here?" Lacey asked, I tried to focus on her words and not the loud annoying elevator music playing in the background. "Yeah, I mean I don't talk to many of them, I tend to keep to myself really. Do you like yours?" Lacey leaned her head from side to side "Their ok, not too friendly, we all keep to ourselves basically."
The doors opened as we walked the hall stopping in front of my door, unlocking it. "Roof Roof!" Twinkie barked wagging his tail as we walked in. "What a great guard dog Twinks, not.." I joked. "Are you hungry?" Twinkie barked again "Roof!" I nodded walking into the kitchen, grabbing his food and water bowls starting to wash them. Lacey sat down on the floor next to Twinkie playing with him. "Good boy." She laughed as he licked her hand.
"Here Twinks" I set his bowls down, watching him charge towards them gobbling his food down. "I guess he was hungry" We both laughed together. "Well I better get going, I have to shower and get a few things done before lunch today." I nodded "Yeah, well I guess I'll meet you at Ava's at 1pm then?"
"Yup see you then. Bye." I waved watching her grab her things and walk out the door. "So what do you think Twinks?" I looked down breathing a huge sigh, covering my eyes with my hands .Twinkie just stared up at me. "I like her." I smiled walking down the hallway to the bathroom starting the shower.
