Chapter Nineteen-
The more I got to know Lacey and her past with her parents and then Landon's mom the more I felt bad. Even her own mother didn't want her she had tried to get in touch with her, but after she moved to Colorado she stopped talking to Lacey all together. "So your dad and Landon's mom both kicked you out?" Ava asked tossing a strand of hair out of her face. Lacey nodded "Yeah, mostly my dad, I could tell Macy hated having to do that, but she kept quiet."
Ava and I nodded in unison. I didn't know what to say I still couldn't believe someone could just abandon their child like that. "I'm sorry." Ava finally said. Lacey bit her lower lip. "It's fine honestly I'm doing great the bar's doing good, I love my job and Landon and I still talk on a regular basis." Ava smiled. "How about a drink ladies? I'm thinking a beer or something with vodka." I added in with a slight laugh. Ava quickly agreed "Vodka and Coke please." I stood up walking towards the kitchen. "Sure thing, and for you Lacey?" Lacey looked a little out of it, I'm guessing from the last couple of minutes worth of conversation. "Vodka on the rocks."
"Sure thing."
"So Ava, Landon tells me you two will be getting married in June, June 6th right?" Ava nodded "Yeah I have less than 6 months to knock this wedding out" Ava said, rubbing her hand over her eyes. "Well I'm here if you need anything any help at all."
"Here you go." I said handing Lacey and Ava their drinks, taking a sip of my Pepsi and vodka. "Thanks" they both said together. "We really need to start planning your wedding Ava, and I know that's my fault" I made a face scrunching my face up. "Well we can start tomorrow then at lunch"
Ava said while sipping her drink. "Sounds good." "What do you have done Ava?" Lacey asked setting down her glass. "Well I've picked my colors, red black and silver. The theme is a simple black and white affair with an old fashion twist. Landon and I already went to a few cake tastings. We decided on a chocolate mousse and strawberry garnish, the cake is beautiful, oh and we found a great spot for the reception." I smiled I could tell how excited Ava was. "Sounds beautiful can't wait." Lacey said also smiling. "Well I want to know more about work, how is it working with Lacey , Miles and vice versa?"
Ava was looking at me, so I knew it was mostly directed at me. I cleared my throat taking a big gulp. "I love it, Lacey a great boss and basically gives me the freedom I've always craved" I laugh a little as Lacey leans forward towards us. "I'm the best damn boss a girl could ever want." She laughs taking a drink setting her glass down on Ava's Mickey Mouse coasters. "Love your coasters by the way. The last time I was at Disney Land I was 4 and Mickey scared the crap out of me.,, literally" I covered my mouth trying hard not to spit out the vodka all over."
Lacey joined in smiling and laughing. "Sorry, yeah it's a lot funnier now then it was then. I remember having to leave the park crying and let's just say you don't even want to know what I did when we saw Goofy on the way out." I tried to hold back but I couldn't I swallowed hard half choking half laughing. Ava was laughing pretty hard herself "Aww poor thing" she managed to say through the fit of laughter. "It's fine, I really do want to go back though." She giggled a little.

We all had been talking for well over 3 hours, about the wedding. Throwing out ideas ,taking in ideas putting stuff together. "So you both have to come dress shopping with me." I smiled looking over to see Lacey smiling as well. "Of course I will. I'm sure Miles will"
Lacey smirked taking the last drink of her vodka. "Yup you know it" I scrunched my nose up at Ava smiling wider. "It's still hard to believe you're getting married, you've been dying for this day." Ava frowned a little. "Miles you do know you will find that special someone and be in my shoes someday." I nodded forcing a smile. I wasn't about to ruin Ava's moment. "Yeah." I nodded the fake smile growing wider. Lacey looked at me a look of concern I'm assuming "Ok moving on, man it's already almost 5:00 and I have to get ready for work, my boss is a real nag when I'm late for work." I chuckled winking at Lacey in a friendly way, walking over hugging Ava "I'll see you tomorrow for lunch."
She smiled laughing a little. "Ok Miles." Lacey stood up "I better go too, Nice to finally meet you Ava, it was fun." "You too Lacey, you should join us tomorrow for lunch." Lacey smiled nodding as she hugged Ava goodbye "I will definitely let you know, I'll walk down with you Miles"
I nodded waiting at the door. "Will you be ok Ava do you need anything before we go?" I asked as Ava used her crutches to walk to her bedroom. "Nope I'm good, thanks. I'm just going to watch T.V" I nodded ""Well call me if you need anything ok." "Thanks I will good night." "Night" I muttered back walking to the door were Lacey stood waiting for me a smile spread across her face. "I Like her, she's sweet. I'm really glad Landon found a girl like Ava." I shut the door locking the bottom lock before shutting it. "Yeah she's a genuinely good person." Lacey smiled wider. "So where do you live?"
I looked over at Lacey walking with her to the elevator getting in. "420 80th St 420 East 80th Street it's between York Avenue and first Avenue."
"Yeah you don't live to far from me" She said as we both walked out onto the street. "So do you take the subway or a cab home usually?" I asked walking towards the subway. "Subway that's what I usually use to get around." I nodded "So subway it is." I smile.***
Lacey and I sat next to each other on the sub way just talking about random things, until it came to my stop. "See you at work?" She nodded smiling. "Yeah I'm one more stop over, and yeah see you there." I waved getting off and walking the half a block to my apartment complex, Getting in the elevator waiting for it to stop on my floor.
