Quicksand and Tsunami walked up the beach to the entrance of the cave when they heard movement from the shore behind them and Quicksand instinctively spun around and threw two chakrams, when he saw two dead seawings, Quicksand walked over and pushed their bodies into the ocean. Quicksand walked back to Tsunami and said "I'm sorry, but they betrayed your tribe to work for Stingray, it had to be done"
"I-It's okay" Tsunami responded, "They would have reported our hiding cave"
Quicksand drew out the key he grabbed from the guardhouse and saw it had a design that he saw when he was a young dragonet, the twisted mask, from one of the Family of the Ancient
Dust's stories, the Legend of the Heretic.
"What is it?" asked Tsunami
"This design, it's the twisted mask" responded Quicksand.
"What's the twisted mask?" asked Clay suddenly emerging from the cave's entrance with Peril and Thief following.
"It's one of the stories of the Family" said Quicksand, "It tells of a young Historian who was believed by many was going to become Heir of the Founder. But then disaster struck, he decided that he alone should rule forever, because if they had an object that would give you animus powers, then why not use it".
"What happened to him?" asked Peril
"He made himself immortal and got the Punishment from the Heirloom Necklace, his face was completely destroyed and he forged himself a mask in the reverse image of the Founder's, instead of gold it was made from silver and black steel.
"What does it mean if the twisted mask is on that key?" asked Clay.
"It means that the story of the Heretic, isn't just a fairy tale.." as Quicksand looked up and looked towards his friends, "It means that the Heretic is a part of the Followers and may be their one true leader.
