Tony took a quick shower and made sure to shave. He put on deodorant and sprayed his favorite cologne. The hardest part was picking what to wear. Pepper was wearing a skirt and blouse, so he settled on jeans and a plain shirt. He ordered a pizza and made sure his hair was perfectly quaffed to the way he liked. He took a deep breath and started down the stairs. Pepper was sitting on the couch on her computer, most likely answering emails. She glanced up with a slight smile on her face. As he reached the bottom of the steps she said, "You look nice Mr. Stark," and to that, he replied, "Thank you, Ms. Potts, as do you" hiding his smile. He was beginning to like the whole calling-each-other-Mr. Stark-and-Ms. Potts thing. "I ordered a large cheese pizza. I hope that's okay for dinner," he said as he walked to the kitchen, and grabbed a bottle of champagne. "That's great," Pepper said kindly, closing her computer. He popped open the bottle and poured them each a glass. They picked them up and clinked them together. "Cheers," they said, just like they had earlier that day. "So what are we watching?" He asked. "Well, I kind of want to watch this new movie, Benji. Have you heard of it?" She said. "Yeah, I actually have, it's about that dog right?" He asked. "Yeah," she replied. "Well I usually don't do dog movies, but just this once we can watch it," he said with a shimmer in his eye. He grabbed the remote and started the movie.

They sat on opposite ends of the big leather couch, with the coffee table in front of them. Tony tried to focus on the movie, but he couldn't take his mind off what she had said before. That she needed him. That when he was away, it was so hard for her. That she came to his house every day and sat in his yard under his tree. But why him? Of all people, her former boss, and coworker? He had nothing against it, but he knew that she did, or used too. She had always said never to date someone you work with, but look at them now. It was all so confusing. The doorbell rang, which broke Tony out of his trance. He hopped up and retrieved the pizza. He got two plates and placed a piece for each of them. "Thank you," she said as he handed it to her. They ate in silence as the movie played, but it felt like they were getting closer and closer until they were almost touching. By the end of the movie, Tony was crying, but Pepper's eyes were very much dry. She looked over at him and did a mix between a scoff and a laugh, which Tony found very cute. "Are you really crying over a PG movie, Tony?" She asked, touching his leg. "How are you not?! It was so sad!" He exclaimed. She laughed.

She then turned off the TV, and looked at Tony, her hand still on his leg. He felt warm where her hand was, and he didn't want her to move. They stared at each other for what felt like forever until she moved her hand from his leg up to the arc reactor at his chest. He leaned in and kissed her. For the second time that day, their lips locked. She put her other hand in his hair and began to twirl a piece in her fingers. He moved his arms around her back. He pushed her back so that she was laying on the couch. He took his lips off hers and laid his head on her chest. She still was playing with his hair, and she kissed the top of his head. Right then she needed him. Just like she always has, but never had the courage to tell him. They both closed their eyes and took in the moment. He could smell her warm vanilla perfume, and she could smell his Armani Code cologne. His arms wrapped around her back, Pepper tilted his face up at her. His brown eyes glossy in the moonlight shining through the window. "Thank you, Tony," she whispered softly, still running her fingers through his hair. "You're more than welcome, and these hair plays are so nice," he said, smirking. Pepper smiled softly. He placed his head back down on her chest and closed his eyes.
