Tony woke up to the smell of eggs and bacon from the kitchen. He breathed in the warm smell and his mind went straight to the night before. Pepper loves me. He thought happily to himself.
He jumped out of bed and walked quickly down the stairs. He peered into the kitchen and saw Pepper at the stove with her back turned to him. She was still wearing his baggy clothes from the night before. She heard his footsteps behind her but chose not to turn. He walked up beside her and looked at what was on the stove. An omelet was in the pan and an identical one was on a plate on the counter beside him.
"There you are," she said glancing at him with a smile. "Good morning Pep, you look stunning as always," he said in his scratchy morning voice. Her ears turned a light shade of red as she held back a smile. Tony could read her like a book though, and was pleased with himself for making her happy. "Thank you honey," she said while her ears faded back to their normal shade. "Honey? Yes!" He said with a fist pump as he walked to retrieve his coffee. Pepper let out a small laugh at his antics.
It used to annoy her when he would point out the smallest things that she said but now she had begun to find it sort of endearing. The microwave beeped as Tony grabbed his coffee. Pepper pulled the bacon out and put the second omelet on a plate. Tony set the table and Pepper brought the food over. "Thank you, dear," he said leaning over the table to give her a short kiss. "Dear? Yes!" She said, mockingly. He scoffed and she just smiled.
"So, I have been thinking about this big idea for a little while," he said between bites. "This is never good," she said with a chuckle. "What do you think about moving to New York for a little while? I have the plans for a building and obviously the resources for this," he said hopefully. "I would be up for it as long as you are sure this is a good idea," she replied. This is going surprisingly well. Tony thought to himself. "I just need a break and to get out of California for a little while. I can get this building up within a month if I find the right guys," he said. "Okay, I am glad that you talked to me first Tony, you are becoming a very good boyfriend," she said smiling softly. The term boyfriend made Tony's heart warm. "I love you, Pepper," he said grabbing her hand from across the table. "I love you," she said lovingly back.
"I am going to go to the car and get some clothes," she added. "Okay, if you want you can leave some here, there is a few spare drawers in my dresser you can use," he said watching her stand up. "Okay, thank you Tony," she said turning to blow him a quick kiss. He watched her rear as she walked away. It had become a habit over the years. He felt guilty for doing it, but sometimes couldn't help himself. Pepper on the other hand was completely aware of this and had been for a long time. She didn't necessarily like it but it had never bothered her. She walked out the front door with a smile on her face knowing that this relationship was becoming more and more deep every day.
