I ran my hands over my long skirt, which almost touched the floor.
"This uniform is beautiful, isn't it?" I asked Harper, who let out a laugh in response.
Our uniform consisted of a grey sweater and a long yet simple dark blue skirt, which I considered a gown. Under the sweater, we wore a light grey blouse with a shocking blue ribbon tied right below the collar. The girls helped me get used to the leather boots, which they called 'wedges', almost all morning. I had no problems with the laces, but walking around proved to be harder than they made it seem.
Both Harper and Araya held satchels that matched their bed set. Harper's was a pastel pink, with little heart and firework stickers pasted all over it. Araya's was an autumn orange, with little leaf stickers all over it. And I, who had just started school, didn't have one.
"You both look so studious." I smiled at them, my only friends in this whole academy.
Harper rolled her eyes, while Araya bashfully twisted a strand of her curly hair. They adjusted their satchels on their arms and looked at the clock, sighing.
Araya walked over to where I stood, grabbing my hand and squeezing it, "We have to go now. You'll be okay?" she asked, her eyes filled with worry.
I nodded, and rubbed my eye tiredly, "Of course, I'm not gonna stay here all day. Agent Jones is going to help me get everything I need for my classes."
Harper's hands lit up, pink sparks revealing how much she liked him. "Wait, where are you meeting him?" she asked excitedly.
I walked over to the door and placed my hand on the handle, "If I calculated right, he should be here right..." I opened the door to reveal Agent Jones on the other side, hand poised to knock. "Now."
His eyes widened, surprised as to what had just occurred, and he quickly lowered his hand to his side, saying, "Hello, Adaria. Are you ready to go?"
I nodded, and gesturing to my roommates, asked, "Have you met my roommates?"
He cocked an eyebrow at me, but quickly shook his head and said, walking over to them, "No, I haven't."
I smiled at Harper, who had multiple pink sparks shooting from her hands, and responded, "How rude of you."
Agent Jones took Araya's hand and shook it saying very politely, "Hey, I'm Agent Jones. What's your name?"
Araya snatched her hand from his grasp as nicely as she could, responding with a strained voice, "Araya Vixen. Nice to meet you."
Agent Jones then turned to Harper, who was desperately trying to rid her hands of sparks, and smiled. He took her hand, but just as he was about to shake it, he pulled back, muttering something under his breath.
Be nice, Agent Jones. I warned.
Harper immediately began apologizing profusely, but was cut off when Agent Jones said, his voice dripping with charm, "Hey, don't worry about it, it didn't hurt that much. What's your name?"
Harper smiled nervously, and stammered, "Harper Scintilla."
He lowered his head and said once again, "I'm Agent Jones, nice to meet you."
Agent Jones turned to me and asked, "Are you ready?"
I nodded, bid farewell to my friends one last time, and followed Agent Jones down the hall. Once we were far enough away from my dorm, I asked, "You do realize she is infatuated with you, correct?"
He sighed and muttered, "Yeah, I know."
I raised an eyebrow and continued further, "Do you return her feelings?"
