When Stars Don't Shine

Chapter 8

    The next morning was just like that last time Nao stayed over. The boys made food, woke up Aya, & got the rest of the way ready for school. They even walked to school together with Kanako.

    "So Nao. Are you alright?," asked Maki.

    "Yeah, you look like you barely slept," added Kanako.

    "I'm alright. I got a couple hours of sleep in last night. Not as much as Maki though. Are you aware of how heavily you sleep?"

    "No. Am I really a heavy sleeper?"

    "Yup. You are."

    As they continued to walk to school, the three eventually met up with Touma & Yuu as they walked to their respective classes.

    Nao walked into class, only to run into Shingo.

    "Sorry Shingo," said Nao.

    "It's f-. You look like shit."

    "So I've heard."

    Then Nao went to his seat to wait for class to begin, since Taiyo was absent.

    At the lunch break, Nao went to class 2-C to visit his other friends.

    "Hey Nao," said Maki.

    "Hey Maki. Hi guys."

    "Something you need?," asked Maki.

    "No. I'll be going now."

    "Please don't leave me with these three," said Kanako.

    "Uhm. No."

    "Rude," said Maki.

    "It was worth a shot."

    Nao actually decited to sit down & spend the rest of the lunch hour with those four. They ended up talking about what Maki was going to make for dinner that night. They talked about that until the bell rang that signalled that all students needed to be in their respective classrooms.

    After school, when the five were walking home after practice, they were having a conversation.

    "Hey, Kanako," Maki said, "you watch & sketch the team so much, so why wouldn't become a manager or something."

    "Wait, that's a good idea. I think you would do well at it," said Touma

    "No way. I wouldn't want to. I don't wanna do manager work when I could be practicing my drawing."

    "But you could make advertisements for around the school for new members & stuff. Plus, I wouldn't mind doing my normal work if you do that," said Yuu.

    "I'd need to think about it first. That isn't something I could make a decition on over night."

    "That's valid. It is a decition of how to use your time & how you manage it."

    "Exactly, kinda. Anyways, don't you need to visit the supermarket Maki?"

    "Oh yeah. Thank's for the reminder."

    "Yeah, yeah."

    A couple hours later, the five of them were in Maki's apartment, along with Aya. They were eating & the door bell started ringing. They all thought this was odd, but Maki opened the door & got greeted with an angry Kyobate Kenji.

    "Hey~ Maki~. Seems you got a little careless~. What's going on kid?," said the man.

    Maki's eyes got big as he fell onto the floor in fear. He eventually tried to scramble to stand, but he was being pulled up by the back of his shirt. Then, Aya & Touma came running into the scene.

Shorter chapter but, angst anyone? I also decited to go with the "Aya adopts Nao" option. I just thought it would fit. I don't have much to say except for expect angst next week. Go drink water!
