It didn't surprise me that I had a nasty fever the next following morning. I hoisted myself up and walked over to the door. Jane stepped aside to let me in. "Hurry up!" She snapped. I rushed upstairs and changed my clothes. I had no time to take a shower.

I headed to school, only two classes today. There's some sort of study for the teacher today. I didn't mind, means I can go the base early.
At the base, I was still cold and sneezing the entire time. Dino frowned a little as I came, "what happened in the few hours you were at home?" He asked. "N-nothing..." I sneezed again. "You look sick..."

"I caught a cold... I feel fine," I stated firmly. He told me to sit down. "For today..." he began and couldn't finish because I had to sneeze again. "We are going to—"
He was cut off again and this time he crossed his arms. "What happened? I demand an answer, right now!"

I shivered, glancing at him. "I was too late the other day. Not welcome anymore so I had to camp underneath a dead oak tree, happy?" I asked a bit snappy. I hate to talk about it and I hate it that he had to see me like this. When I came here I wanted to keep my private life and work separated, but it's nearly impossible.
He looked at my right as he crouched down. "I know what you think..." he said quietly and brushed some hair from my face. "You're upset that I know while you wanted to keep it privately," he said.

I blinked my tears away. "Come on..." he got up and gestured me to follow him. "I am sorry..."
"For what?" He questioned. "For being a bother..." I muttered. "You're not a bother..." he mocked. He pushed open a door, his room. "Take a shower..." he said and handed me a towel. I hesitated, "go on..." he pushed. I smiled and disappeared in the bathroom.

I felt ten times better after. "Better?" He asked. I nodded, "yeah, ten times better, thanks," I chirped. "You have a fever, are you sure you don't want to go home?" He questioned. "No, absolutely not. I rather help you..." I said.

"I also thought about our ghost problem."
He cocked his head slightly to the side. "There's one place we haven't been..." I said. "Really? Which is?" He questioned. "His room... most soldiers have a room right? And you said he was important..." I said. "You're right... are you sure you want to do it now? I mean... he won't go anywhere."

I waved my hand and sneezed again. "We aren't reaching anything... so... we should try. Perhaps it's a failure but perhaps we find some juicy stuff. You said you like juicy stuff..." I teased a little. He laughed mockingly but agreed anyway.

"Can I ask you a favor?"

He raised a brow, "Uhm... yeah," he replied slowly. "Do you think that if I give you a name you can look it up in the database?" I asked. "You have access to it right?" He frowned a little but nodded. "Yeah, I do..." he said. "Why?"

"I would sleep a lot better if you can see if he has criminal background or anything," I replied. "Sure, if I can help you with that then I will," he said. A warm feeling spread through my body. He did it for me and I think it's so sweet of him. "Thanks, Dino..."

We reached the room and Dino typed the code. It was completely empty. "Oh yeah... I definitely feel him," I said. "It's quite cold here too..." he muttered. "That means we are right. I read some books..." I relied. There fell a silence and I heard a really strange noise. "Do you hear that?"
"What?"

"That sound... it's like... some sort of rumble," I said. He shook his head. "This is it, Mirage... we need to be here," I said in a whisper. I turned and yelped, jumping back. All the color drained from my face if that wasn't already the case. "You see him?"

I nodded and watched Dino step aside. "Ask him about the accident," he said. "He's looking at you..." I whispered. the lights started to flicker and it made us both uncomfortable. "Say something..." I demanded. He just glanced at me, nothing else. "Nothing?" I sighed and shook my head, when I looked back he was gone.

"He vanished..."

Dino sighed and we decided to excite the room. "You got his attention by asking about the accident," I said as he shut the door. "We'll try again tomorrow," he stated and we walked back the office.
I did some more paperwork and around 5 O'clock I wrote down the name of the man that had touched me last weekend.

Joseph Carter

I handed him the small piece of paper. "That's the name, he's around 50... maybe 52," I said. He nodded and looked briefly at it. "I'll have a look at it... hey, do you know your grade for math yet?" He questioned. I sighed and nodded sadly "F..."

His face saddened a little, "I am sorry, but I am sure you'll do better next time. Can you do a resit?" He questioned. "Yeah, I can..." I said. "I know you'll do better next time. You're smart..." he stated firmly. I felt a warm feeling spreading through my body. "Thanks... needed that."

He returned the smile, "see you tomorrow..." I nodded and left the base, heading back to the place I am forced to cal home. Just a shame I can't stay at the base. My life would be so much better. I don't think Dino realizes how bad the situation is and how poorly these people treat me. He knows they hurt me, but now how bad.

I don't want to tell him either. I already hate the fact that he knows they abuse me.
