(SPOV)

It's been about a month since Nala left home and since Keegan and I went after her. It took me forever to convince Keegan to come along with, and he finally did. Personally I think he just said yes, to shut me up.

We've been having zero luck finding Nala and we've been hiding out everywhere and I'm worried.

Where are you, Nala?

I sighed heavily as I walked into the hotel Keegan and I were staying at for the time being. We've been here for at least two days, we've each gone out to look for her and came back empty.

I headed to the nearest elevator and went up to our floor. The elevator dinged and I walked out it and headed to our room. I opened the door and shut it tight behind me.

"Did you find her, Shelly?" asked Keegan.

He was sitting on the bed, watching some TV, I said nothing and headed over to join him.

"I'll take that as a no then." he said again, I only nodded.

"I don't get it Keegan, where could she have possibly gone? We've looked everywhere..." I trailed off.

He sighed and turned to me, "I know Shelly, but do you really think it's worth it to keep looking for her? I mean, she hates us..."

I wrapped my arms around myself, "I know that, but it is worth it. She's our sister and let's be honest, we treat her better than Mom and Dad do."

"That is true, but you know they're so harsh with her because they want her to take over the family."

"Yeah, I get that. But do you really think Nala even wants too? I sure don't, I'm fine with being an assassin and making my own money."

"That's you, Shelly not Nala."

I started to get angry and dropped my arms, "So fucking what, Keegan!"

He jumped back a little from my outburst as anger started to form in his eyes. He was about to talk, I cut him off.

"Let me talk! I can tell you right now, she doesn't want to take over, why do you think she ran off!?"

He said nothing, just stared at me with his angry crimson eyes, I went on.

"Nala wants no part in taking over this family, she's only eighteen! Answer me honestly here, Keegan. Do you want to take over too, or no?"

Silence filled the space between us, nothing but the sound of the TV filling the harsh background, I was getting anxious now. Just as I was about to say something, he finally spoke.

"No, I don't and I don't think Nala should keep going through all that either..."

My eyes went wide as my anger faded. Wow...

"Keegan..."

He turned to me, as shy tear trickling down his cheek, as one trickled down mine.

"I hate our parents too, I get that Nala's fucked up a lot. But they take it so harshly..." he trailed off.

I sighed, "I know. And now they want her back dead or alive, they'll literally kill her just to prove a point."

"Exactly. I didn't just come because I wanted you to shut up, Shelly. I came because I also want to keep her safe."

"Same. There is one place we haven't gone too, you know."

"I do know, it's the hotel she had her job at. We should check there tomorrow and see if any witnesses saw her a month ago."
