Lydia was so delighted to see her thane returned. To be honest, she immediately burned down the inheritance letter after the courier gave it to her. Her thane was a Dragonborn, in addition, she traveled with the first Dragonborn. Who or what could harm them?! While the children kept Ammra busy with their stories, she immediately prepared the warm bath.
"I miss you so much, mama" Alesan's and Sofie's voice overlapped as they spoke the same thing almost at the same time. The children immediately ran forward and hugged Ammra.
The younger Dragonborn felt a stream of warm feeling overflew her chest. They reminded her of herself. Perhaps not returning home was not bad at all. Perhaps instead of being the one who hugged the parents, she would be the parent instead. Either way, she was glad to see them happy as she completely accepted Skyrim as her new home.
Children, who were by nature sensitive, could sense something obvious between Miraak and Ammra. Even if both did not utter a single word when they arrived at Breezehome that morning, both Alesan dan Sofie agreed that adults before their eyes were sharing the same feeling.
Alesan pulled away and began talking, "Um...Ma. Will Sir Miraak stay with us for a while longer?"
"It's a good idea!" Sofie exclaimed. "He's a wizard and he could tell a lot about stars."
"Sir?" Ammra snorted and giggled. It was weird hearing him being called sir. When she turned to him, their eyes met. "What do you say, sir?" she asked playfully, smiling. No word was spoken but Miraak knew she understood that he would do it. "Alright kids, pack up some warm clothes. We'll visit uncle Gregor. Rooftop at Heljarchen Hall is a perfect place for stars sightseeing."
The kids cheered in excitement then ran to their room. Ammra couldn't help but smile then turned to Miraak. She gazed at him for some moment.
"Yes?" he gave her a questioning look.
Ammra shook her head sheepishly and stormed forward only to land herself between his arms. "Thanks for asking Akatosh to revive me. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for you." She spoke in a muffled voice as the shy Dragonborn buried her face on his chest comfortably.
Hw hugged her back and landed a quick kiss on her head. He loved her being bashful especially like what she was doing right now." You saved me, so I'll do anything for you, little one."
At that time Lydia stepped out of the bathroom and saw them. She immediately signed Miraak to continue as she slipped by quietly. Finally, she saw her thane happy even if it meant she would be in a relationship with someone who once sought to kill her. How her thane managed to turn Miraak inside out was still a mystery for her.
As the night fell, the children were eagerly waiting at the rooftop of the house. However, when the snow began to fall as the thick could conceal the night sky, disappointment grew bigger in their heart. Miraak couldn't help but smirked when he noticed their reaction that resembled Ammra when she was discouraged by Mara and Dibella.
Lok...Vah...Koor...
He suddenly shouted to the sky. Alesan and Sofie gasped as their jaw dropped in awe to see how the cloud rapidly dispersed, revealing the starry night skies. Aurora began swirling above them, giving off the mystical yet beautiful sight to see.
"All hail Sir Miraak!" Sofie exclaimed playfully to praise him. Alesan cheered and thanked him.
Telling stories for children was never on the task list when he was a Dragon Priest, nor that he had time for it. So, this time, instead of sharing flowery fairy tail of sort, Miraak just shared the ancient knowledge he knew about astrology. To his surprise, he managed to spend hours with them as they sandwiched him from both sides.
Their questions were shallow and naïve, but he admired their inquisitive nature. They mentioned how they often saw Ammra read books and told them the gist when they were curious. Eventually, they copied her habit and began reading books. Miraak was relieved that they did not copy her sometimes an insane way of thinking. They had the same opinion on not triggering her wild out-of-the-box idea.
"Sometimes we caught her talking to herself even to a dog when she was inspired," Sofie said. "One time she almost left the house only wearing a towel because she was too focused on finding something after reading a book," Alesan added and they giggled together.
In a war, it was highly necessary to find an alliance when we face a formidable enemy. Such was one strategy and politics to win. When they were talking behind her back about the silly things she often did, Miraak felt he had won their trust as well as the alliance.
He slightly jolted when Ammra covered her body with a fur cloak from behind. She heard everything but did not mind at all so she pretended nothing happened and told the kids it was time for bed. When she was about to leave, Miraak held her hand.
"What is it?" she asked. He just pulled her to sit on his lap. "You still want to watch the sky?"
"With you." He added. Miraak noticed how she was tensed and tried to cope with herself.
Even after what happened, Ammra was still unfamiliar with such a display of affection. She couldn't be blamed either. She was killed even before she had her first boyfriend and upon revival in Skyrim, she was too busy to stay alive to worry about such a thing. So, Miraak was her very first and not an ordinary one either. One could imagine how new everything was for Ammra.
As for Miraak, he was happy leading on. He would follow her pace but taking control if necessary. With Ammra being sometimes oblivious and innocent as well as shy was something of pure entertainment for him. Like an enchanting wildflower, she would bloom in time and Miraak wouldn't rush for every phase was memorable.
"Hey, thanks again for everything." She muttered when she finally dared to lean closer in such a close and somewhat more intimate position than their usual hug.
"Akatosh had assigned us together. So, don't even think of killing yourself again. Bear in mind that you are not allowed to leave my side."
"I'm not so eloquent in a relationship but isn't your words supposed to be more romantic and had different choices of words?" she inquired.
He slightly grunted in amusement then pressed his lips of hers. Again, she made her blushed, red and weak in the knees. "Ammra." He muttered her name.
"What are we supposed to do about Akatosh's order?" she asked after they were silent for some moment, enjoying the starry skies. She snuggled closer as the wind getting colder.
"I need to see him. Alduin." he told her.
"Paarthurnax told me about it. Was it true that you called him father?"
He looked down to meet her eyes. "Geh, Dovahkiin. After all that happened, it would be a quite interesting moment to meet him again." She caught a hint of hesitation and regret in his voice.
She gently cupped his face with one hand. "It'll be okay. I am coming with you."
He smiled and kissed her again. Only this time, he did it longer and deeper. Softer but more passionate. Under the stars, the Last Dragonborn came to understand that Miraak was quite deadly even in terms of affection display.
