'dear heart please stop getting involved in everything. Your job is to pump blood, that's it'
This is not where I expected to be tonight. I expected to be sharing a small room with either an emo teen or little kid who won't shut up, not about to pull up to an airport. I've only ever been out of my little town once or twice so seeing the actual city was different. It was not as beautiful as it looks from afar but I guess most things aren't. It just consists of a lot of car horns, flashing lights, and tourists. I kind of felt more like a tourist than a citizen, like a guest in my own home. But I suppose calling this my home is a bit of a stretch. We pulled round and I finally saw the airport. It was quite sleek and it looked like you cold get it in a portable version. There were people pouring in and out of the building, laughing, panicking, and talking. Every single person had there own story, weather they were getting home from work, going on holiday or simply gong where the wind takes them everyone had their own story and right now I wished more than anything I could be one of them. Officer Mesha parked in the massive concrete parking lot at the back of the airport. As soon as I walked out I was hit with the most amazing smell, I didn't expect that. I expected to smell cigarette smoke and weed, not whatever this was. It smelt like honey and freshly baked bread, I spun my head around trying to detect the smell and my eyes landed on a small green stall a little way back by the entrance. Before I could do anything with this new found information I was called "Athena? Come on your plane will go without you" Calia called from behind me. I turned and trudged around the car towards Calia who had a small smile on her face, no clue why. "Well, then. I shall leave you to it " officer Mesha said indicating he'd stay in the car. I nodded silently and didn't say anything before turning around, my mind already back on the stand. I knew Calia would trail after me regardless of weather I waited for her or not and even though Calia had been nothing but nice to me but I wasn't really in the mood to be polite: I just wanted to find whatever was in that stand eat it and sleep. I approached the back entrance of the airport with my eyes set on the small green stand. The nearer I came the better it smelt. Maybe I had died and went to heaven? But I literally had a reservation in hell so clearly not. hesitantly I peak into the inside of the stand I reached as quietly as possible; scared to have to make conversation with whoever was behind the counter but there seemed to be no one there. I scanned the van looking for some kind of menu but to no avail. It was so infuriating because I couldn't even see what they were coking I could just smell it. As I was scouring the van for a sign of where the hell the smell was comming from I felt someone from behind me tap on my back but I just ignored it, assuming it was just Calia. "Mm, ma'am? ma'am" I spun round and was met with someone who was certainly not Calia. I was wondering why he was just awkwardly standing there when I realised I was blocking the entrance. He must work here. "Sorry" I mumbled, looking own and moving to make way for himm. "Not a problem" he said with an easy smile as he mounted the stairs and appeared on the other side of the truck. He leaned on the metal counter seemingly a lot ore comfortable and gave me a cheeky grin. "what can I do you for then" he asked . I looked up, still embarrassed, and decided to get to it so I could leave. "Yeah, what are you Selling?" I asked as politely as I could, I needed whatever was there. He looked confused "Selling? Oh no!" he said as if he just made a huge revelation. He leaned in and beckoned me to come close "We're really not like that ma'am, we are honestly here to help, we don't deal" he finished off, in a hushed voice. I looked up in confusion, deal? Did he think I was trying to buy drugs? "Dude! What? no! What?? I just want what you're selling. it smells good" I exclaimed hoping to clear this mess up before it got worse. He still looked confused as he looked at me, flicking a curl out of his eyes he looked at me as if I'd grown two heads before smirking and then waving his hand round a bit. Huh? What the hell was this guy on? I followed his hand and I noticed a leaflet I hadn't seen before and as I looked closer I paled. Fuck me. I looked up at him sheepishly and his smirk only broadened. This was a van that advertised help with drug abuse. That's why Calia hadn't hurried me on. She'll probably report this, great. So what the fuck smells so good? Like he could read my mind he disappeared to the back of the van and returned with what seemed to be a croissant. "This what yo mean?" he asked with an amused smirk and anyone with an ounce of pride would have walked away but I really wanted whatever that was. "Yes" I said and watched his insufferable smirk grow and before I could re think I snatched the croissant from the counter. I looked up slowly to see is smirk slowly fall of. HA. "hey! That was mine" he said, pointing out the obvious in my opinion, he looked at it like it was his baby and for a second I felt bad before I realised I probably need it more than him."Pleasee I've had a shitty day" I admitted truthfully. He sighed looking between the croissant and me before looking up at me with a small smile "Fine, only because your cute though" he said with a wink before going to the back of the cart. I had no time to process what he had just said because Calia had just grasped my arm and dragged me into the airport.
