Draco's perspective
"Are you Draco Malfoy?" asked the prefect, looking at Draco.
"That's me."
"You sure look like your father..."
"What's wrong with father?" Draco said, noticing the subtly distasteful look on the prefect's face. It was something he had seen a few times before when people mentioned his father. The usual expression was fear barely masked by enthusiasm about his job and his accomplishments, but Draco knew that not many people liked father.
"Nothing. I've come to tell you that Professor Mcgonnagal has deducted ten points from each Weasley twin from handing out potential hazardous potions. Unfortunately there are troublemakers like that in Hogwarts, so I caution first years to stay away from the older students, particularly those in different houses. Particularly Gryffindors. Better safe than sorry."
"I'll try," said Draco holding as still a facial expression as possible.
"Here's a letter. The twins were asked to write you an apology. I hope that you can accept it so that we can all have a nice year."
The moment the prefect left, Draco frowned.
"I'm not bothering with this. We all know the Weasleys are trash and won't ever be worth anything."
"I'm sure they weren't trying to kill you," Harry chimed in.
"I don't know, Potter. I'm disappointed you would want to kiss the Weasleys' butts, but not surprised. After all, your own Slytherin friends aren't good enough for you. Maybe we should worship the ground you step on from now on. Carry your books for you."
"You've been nothing but condescending, Malfoy, and it hasn't even been a week!"
Draco forced his thin lips tight. He watched Harry pick up his glasses off his side table and walk out.
"Fine, Saint Potter! Walk out on me whenever you feel like it. Where were you all this time, the two of you?"
"Going for a walk? What was that about Potter and the prefect?" asked Crabbe.
"The Weasleys lost their house some points. Now if you'll excuse me I'll be taking a nap."
Draco was getting angry every time he returned to the common room and saw Ravin talking to Harry. Ravin was also spending time with him on all the breaks. The only times they weren't together was when they had to go class since Ravin was two years their senior.
Harry wouldn't even be seen near his bed until late night, so Draco would try to stay up.
In class Draco was paired with Harry for a potions assignment. Draco hoped this way he could make up with Harry but Harry was unresponsive to most of what he said. He didn't even bother to fake his smile. He rolled his eyes when Draco made a fuss over his mistakes.
"Potter," he repeated. It was the final day before the assignment was due and the final chance for him to get Harry to pay any attention to him.
"What do you want?" Harry said looking exasperated.
Draco breathed in and attempted to seem friendly.
"Do you want to watch the Slytherins' Quidditch training together?"
"I can go alone."
Draco struggled to hold back his frustration.
"...Are you looking down on me, Saint Potter?"
"There it is. Your narcissistic side. The reason I don't like being around you is because you never have respect for anyone. Not for non magic folks, not for their children and not for anything that taints your precious pure blood."
"Talk sarcastically one more time, Potter," said Draco, pulling out his wand.
Harry pulled his wand out, "you're just an insufferable prat. You have no right to talk down on people."
"I wouldn't be talking Potter. You think that just because of your scar head you get to slander me with Hooch."
"The two of you holding wands! I'll deduct points from Slytherin if you don't put them down at once."
Harry quickly packed his away."Meet me outside our Common Room after our final lesson."
"No," said Harry, "I'm not interested in duelling you."
"No, not a duel. There's something else I need to show you."
"Be specific. I won't follow you if you won't tell me exactly what it is you will show me."
"You won't believe it but...I found a mirror that I think you would want to see."
"Why would I want to see a mirror?"
"It has you in it."
"A mirror that has me in it?"
"Don't just repeat what I say. Yes, you heard me right."
"How can a mirror have me in it? Doesn't it make it a portrait?"
"I haven't a clue. You'd want to see it, wouldn't you?"
"Don't be daft. It's in one of those secret chambers, isn't it?"
"It's not exactly unsafe. The room only appeared accidentally. I afterwards found out it was called the Room of Requirements. The Professors and Filch can't find us in there if they tried and I can always have Crabbe and Goyle to cover up for us... in case something goes wrong."
"'In case'? Do you hear yourself?"
"You're not a prissy. And I know you're curious."
Draco gazed hopefully at Harry.
"I promise to make sure that we make it back before after hours. Or you can take my deluminator."
"It's a deal then."
"Great. Shake on it."
They held hands and shook. Draco grinned and walked away without a word.
