8- A Ride to Remember

I feel bummed out today. Today is just gloomy for some reason. I stayed in bed for a long time this morning. Some time ago I bought a nerf gun so I could do something. I shot at my ceiling the entire time. The little darts would stick for a while and then drop down besides me. Then I repeat the process. Shoot, watch it stick, watch it fall, insert dart back into the gun, repeat. Some hit me in the face as it fell back down.

Obviously I was going to get bored from doing this for several minutes. Maybe I should paste a photo of something on my ceiling so it would be much more fun shooting my ceiling. A zombie would be interesting. Would even be cool if I get a headshot. Being a cop is fun...sometimes.

I placed the nerf gun on my desk. When I placed it away, I heard a soft crumble of paper. Must have placed it on top of it. I sat myself up to see better. Moving the toy away, I was able to see what it was. It was that flyer that I received some time ago. Forgot I had it honestly. I picked it up to examine it once again. So the Carnival is this weekend. Hm. Guess I have a plan this weekend. I wonder if Claire would like to come along with me since I know she's free this week while all my other friends aren't.

Quickly, I grabbed my phone and began to text her. She responded after a few minutes.

'Hey, Leon. What's up ?'

'Hi, Claire. Heard that there's this Carnival that is this weekend and I'm wondering if you'd like to come along with me.'

'Oh, I heard about that too. I was going to go with my boyfriend, but I guess us three can go together.'

'Cool. Would it also be cool if I came over to pick you guys up ?'

'Yes. Thanks.'

So it's us three. My friend, her boyfriend, and me. I'm probably going to be the third wheel. Hopefully it doesn't turn out like that.

I waited outside of my friend's house for a while. She said that she'll be out in a moment. That was a few minutes ago. I wonder what's taking so long ?

My eyes were half closed, but opened once I heard the side door open. Claire and her boyfriend hopped into my car. Both seemed out of breath. Okay, what were they doing in there ? Did they lose track of time and began to rush things ?

Claire said to me, breathing quickly, "Sorry about that. Lost track of time."

I stand correct. "It's fine. We're not even late anyway."

"We kept you waiting though," she said.

"Yeah, but it's fine like I said. Now buckle up and let's go."

I put the car into drive and took off. This ride is going to take a long time. Perhaps an hour long. I left the radio on in case anyone wanted to hear what was on. Maybe the news or just some music.

Today was pretty warm. The sky was a perfect blue with barely any clouds in the air. Surely this day is going to be a good one. I'm with a friend (and her boyfriend), we're going to a place to have fun, and it's going to be great.

Along the way, many songs came on the radio. All sounded really good, so us three started to sing along, having too much fun. At stop lights or stop signs, I'm sure of people giving us some stares in confusion as they walked along the sidewalk. They probably thought we were on something. We were singing a bit off sync and we were all off pitch.

Soon enough we got to our destination. I parked the car near the entrance. I glanced at the large entrance. It was very flashy with the bright colours and lights. The place appeared huge. Probably the size of a mansion. Bet there's a chance one of us gets lost in there.
