Laundry day. Thought it was about time to clean my clothes, as well as my police uniform. The basket was nearly full.

I carried the basket over to the washer and began throwing my clothes in. I checked the pockets for any sort of object I left in them. So far each pocket appeared empty.

While checking one pair, my fingers felt something. Felt like a piece of paper. I quickly pulled it out and then threw the pants into the washer. I turned my focus over to the piece of paper that I held in my hand. Flipped both sides to see any sort of writing. One side had a number of some sort with a name at the bottom of it. Ada W...

I pondered for a moment until it hit me. This is that woman's phone number. Unsure how I completely forgot about it. It's been a few days since we first met at that bar. And speaking about that day, the other woman that I was supposed to meet never really replied to me. Kind of suspected I was blocked. Still kind of stung, but I already expected that to happen. So it wasn't too much of a shock for me.

Back to that current woman in red though. Something about her is so familiar and I still cannot put a finger on it. Was it her name ? Her face ? God, what was it ? Unless it had something to do with red. Red... Hm. I'll figure it out eventually.

Staring more intently at the numbers, I got curious. It felt like we were getting along that night. She did hand her number over to me with full intent of wanting me to actually phone her. Perhaps I'll do it... after I'm done doing all these chores. Should be complete in an hour or so.

Chores appeared to be all completed. Even took some time to take a shower and eat. Now what's to do ? Oh yeah, calling that Ada woman. Before even phoning her, what should I say ? Ask her to hang out together, chat over the phone ? Those two options bounced around my head. Soon I came to a decision. Us hanging out is good. After all, I'd like to see more of that woman. Beautiful face and all.

And so I punched in the numbers into my phone. All there is to do is wait for an answer. It rang for a while. Began to think that she was busy. People usually miss my calls a lot. Unsure what that says about me as a person.

Just when I was about to cancel the pending call, it suddenly went quiet. At first I thought the call was canceled on it's own until I heard a muffled thing on the other line. It was talking. Two people ?

"Uh, hello ?" I say awkwardly. Started to think I did this at a bad time.

A femanine voice said back, "Hello. Uh, excuse me a bit."

There was a masculine voice as well. Sounded like yelling. Managed to hear what they were yelling about.

"When I said 'yeah, sure, answer that call' I meant it sarcastically ! Couldn't you tell ?!"

"But your voice is so bland that I actually couldn't tell," said the woman.

Then some grumbling was heard in the background.

"It'll be a quick one. Don't get so worked up about it. Anyway, who's this ?"

Finally my turn to talk. "It's uh me, Leon ? We met at that bar and you handed me your number."

"Oh, I remember. What's it you need ?"

Her voice is so soothing.

"Just checking in on you," I say. Kind of felt nervous. "How are you doing ?"

"Doing well, until this silly man decided to make a fuss-"

"I HEARD THAT," screamed that other male on her line. Hearing him reminded me of someone else now. Feels like I heard a similar voice like that at my job. Geez, more people I have to figure out who's who.
