Third Person POV

When Melissa and Jim show up to the office this morning, the first that they notice is that the room looks different. They can't quite figure it out. Mel goes to put her bag down at the receptionist desk, but Michael walks out quickly.

"Don't!" He calls out to her.

She jumps and glances over her shoulder with raised eyebrows, not moving another muscle in her body. Jim watches Michael with confusion, deciding he doesn't want to leave Mel alone with him right now.

"Don't what? I'm just putting my bag down." She says to him.

"Come here." He waves her over to him.

She puts her bag back on her arm and takes a few slow steps toward him. Michael glances around the office and notices no one is missing so he claps his hands loudly.

"Alright, everybody! I have an announcement!" He calls out to everyone.

Everyone turns their chairs around to look at them with confusion written all over their faces.

"Now, for the last month, Jan, Melissa and I have been working together. Jan and I decided we needed an Assistant Regional Manager..." He starts, but Dwight quickly cuts him off.

"I'm already Assistant Regional Manager!"

"No, Dwight." Michael sighs and drops his head. "You are Assistant TO THE Regional Manager..."

"But you're promoting me right?" Dwight stands and smirks at Melissa.

"No! Sit!" Michael points to Dwight's desk.

He quickly sits down, watching Michael almost as if he's waiting to see if he gets a treat for doing what he's told like a dog.

"Anyway...For the last month, Melissa has been filling out paperwork and doing tests online. Yesterday, Jan finally approved of it all. You are now looking at your Assistant Regional Manager, Melissa Ford!" Michael starts clapping loudly.

"Wait? It's approved?"

She smiles widely before looking at her fiancée who has the widest smile anyone has ever seen as he claps the loudest out of everyone.

"Yes!" Michael smiles widely and pulls a name plate out of his pocket before showing her.

Everyone in the room starts cheering and clapping even louder...except for Angela who is clapping softly in annoyance and Dwight who is pouting. Mel covers her mouth as a tear falls down her cheek. Jim wraps an arm around her shoulder and chuckles as he rubs her arm.

"Now, we don't have an extra office for you to use, but we moved an old desk in here for you to work." Michael gestures in front of him.

Jim and Mel look to see in front of Dwight and perpendicular to Jim is another desk. That's what's different with the office today. There used to be boxes of paper for printers there but Michael had them moved to the once empty space behind Pam. The computer Mel uses is on the desk with pencils and pens in a cup near a notebook. A brand new phone is resting diagonally on her desk, pointing to Jim's.

Lastly, on the left side of the desk, facing the reception area is a picture of Jim and Mel. She smiles widely as she recognizes it as a photo she had taken while on vacation with Jim last June.
