Mel's POV
Today is Valentine's day. Every year I always make everyone a small Valentine's card just in case no one has anyone to get them anything. It usually takes me a week to make them all which really doesn't bother me. As long as they smile after they receive them, it's always worth it. Meredith has even admitted to me that every year, since she got divorced, she looks forward to my Valentine's.
I put my small box of Valentine's in my bag when Jim walks down the stairs. I glance up after making sure my wallet is in it's usual pocket.
"Morning, babe." I smile widely.
"Morning." He smiles tiredly.
He walks over and kisses the top of my head before getting a cup of coffee. He leans against the counter while I fix my bag.
"Are you still playing cards with the guys tonight?" I ask, looking up at him.
"Actually, I cancelled. I know you said it would be okay but it's Valentine's day. I want to spend it with my fiance." He admits.
"Babe. It's just Valentine's..." He cuts me off.
"Exactly. It's the day of love and I love you, so..." He smiles widely.
I blush and nod. "Alright. Did you already plan something or...?"
"I did. When we get home from work, I want you to change into a nice dress and we're going out." He puts his cup down in the sink after taking the last sip.
"Ooo." I walk over to him. "We're going out?"
He wraps his arms around my waist and nods. "Yep."
"I'll be ready by 7?" I wrap my arms around his neck.
"Sounds good because our reservations are at 7:30." He smiles and leans down.
I lean up a little bit, closing the distance, and press a kiss to his lips. He pulls me closer just as my cell phone rings in my bag. I pull away with a small sigh.
"Ten bucks says it's Michael." I whisper.
"Ten bucks says it's Pam." He challenges.
I smirk and leave his arms only to walk to the table. Snagging my bag off the tabletop, I reach in and grab my phone before holding up to Jim to show Michael's face on the caller ID. He sighs heavily and grabs his wallet from his back pocket. I quickly answer the call while he does so.
"Hello, Michael." I say, sweetly.
"Mel! Are you coming into work today?" He asks.
"Of course. I was just getting ready to leave." I look at my watch. "Wait...I don't have to leave for another half hour."
"I have a meeting in New York today to meet and do a presentation for the new CFO and I need your help!" He yells, nervously.
I know he's not actually trying to yell but he's super nervous, and his voice rises when he gets in a state like the one he's currently in.
"Okay. I'll leave right now." I glance at Jim.
He raises an eyebrow and holds out my money. I smirk and take it from his hand and throw it into my bag.
"Thank you! You're seriously the best assistant ever!" He quickly hangs up.
I sigh and put my phone in my bag. "Michael is meeting the new CFO today."
He nods. "And he wants you to help for...?"
I shrug. "It's Michael. It could just be to make sure his tie is on straight."
