Mel's P.O.V.
I sit at my desk, staring at my phone. Last week, I put in for a dream vacation for two people. Everything would be paid for but the location won't be disclosed until they picked a winner. It was free to apply, so I did. It wouldn't hurt to give it a try; I had nothing to lose from it if I wasn't chosen, and a dream vacation to gain if I was selected.
I'm not gonna lie, though, I do hope I get selected. It'd be nice to get outta the office for a little bit, and I even know who I'd ask to go with me. Smiling, I try to think of ways I could ask Jim if he wants to go with me if I win, but I'm gonna wait until I know if I was selected. I glance up when I see Michael walk through the front door.
"Hey, you ready?" Michael asks pointing to Jim.
Jim picks up his duffel bag that is sitting on the floor next to him. Michael looks toward Ryan, who is sitting in the back of the room.
"Alright, alright! Secret sign. Ryan?" Ryan holds up his bag as well. "Very good! Excellent, excellent."
As if it's a last thought, Michael quickly turns around towards me.
"Mel..." I smile slightly and pick up my bag that I have on the floor by the trash can, hidden from view. "Perfect! Great!"
From behind Michael we hear, "Michael!"
Great...Dwight is once again going to be begging to be put on the basketball team that Michael put together. Today, around lunchtime or so, we're going to be playing the warehouse staff in a small game of basketball. Michael said it was because they were in awe when he kept sinking hoops, but I know the truth since I've talked to Darryl.
He said it was because Michael stopped by and was shooting hoops...but Michael was missing every single shot. When Darryl brought this up to him, Michael brought up the idea of having a small game to prove that he was actually good at basketball. Jim was put on the team because he actually played in high school.
The reason I'm on the team is because when Michael asked Jim to be on the team, Jim told him how well I was beginning to get good. Which made Michael automatically put me on the team. I found out just yesterday, when Jim showed up for dinner. He even picked out my outfit. Michael ignores Dwight and turns to Pam.
"Pam, Pam. Thank you, ma'am. Messages, please? Thank you?" He says while taking the pieces of paper she holds up.
Dwight stands up from his desk and runs over to our area.
"Michael? Can I talk to you please? Privately? In your office?" Completely ignoring his own question, he says, "I think I should be on the team."
Michael shakes his head and starts walking to his office. "No, and that's not being mean, Dwight. That is based on your past behavior."
Dwight follows Michael into his office and closes the door.
