Chapter Twenty Eight

Navya was back after collecting whatever was required only to find Arjun looking lost and Vandana quietly cleaning the table.

She went into the kitchen and kept the basket aside, helping Vandana clean the table. There was silence in the house except for the occasional clinking of the utensils, with everybody lost in their own world.

Arjun was replaying the conversation in his head and when he was startled to find Navya standing in the kitchen. He didn't even realize when she had come. She glanced at him slightly and gave him a small, awkward smile.

Navya didn't know why but she felt that Arjun's stare was unnerving. It felt weird because he was always either angry or annoyed at her do this was kind of... different. Yes, totally different.

"Navya, I, uh, need to talk to you about something." Arjun said and gestured her towards the room in the corner.

Navya looked at Vandana quietly to see if she was listening to their conversation but she was busy doing something in the kitchen. So she turned towards Arjun and hesitantly nodded her head.

Arjun led her towards the room and closed the door. He was feeling damn nervous and he was terrified about what he was going to say now. He felt his stomach churning at the thought so he took deep breaths to calm himself.

Dammit! This is so fu*king difficult. He thought in his head. He felt sick suddenly but before he changes his mind, he blurted out, "LET'S MARRY!"

Navya stood waiting for him to say something but all he did was nervously pace around in the small room. He seemed to be nervous for some reason and it was starting to get awkward now. She had a gut feeling that it was something which was unagreeable on her part and well, she was right on that aspect.

Navya was shell shocked when she heard those two dreadful words coming out of Arjun's mouth. She couldn't believe her ears. Did she hear it right?

Arjun was unable to meet her eyes as he waited for any sort of reaction from her side.

"WHAT!?" Navya blurted out.

"Umm I said-" Arjun was going to repeat what he said.

"I heard what you just said. I am asking why? Why do suddenly? I thought that you never saw me in that way. What happened to you suddenly. Why are you behaving so weirdly. I mean I don't understand..." she trailed off.

It was terrifying to say the least and she initially thought that he was joking.

But when she looked into his eyes, she realized that he was not at all joking. He was pretty serious.

B-but, why suddenly? I mean..?" She trialed off. Navya was really confused now and she still thought it was some kind of a sick joke, becuase serious and life changjng decisions like these are not taken like this, in an impulsive manner.

She wondered if he's even realising what he has been talking about.

"It's not a sudden decision Navya, amma (mother) sent you away to the garden to talk to me, I guess. To talk to me about this matter. Anyone could see that we both love each other." Arjun said and paused, realising that he has blurted out his feelings.

Navya's eyes widened when heard what Arjun just said.

She was shell shocked and was opening and closing her mouth like a fish.

"I love you." Arjun said and sighed.

There, he said it. Now he felt very light and a bit relieved. He spent many sleepless nights thinking about this and living in denial and suddenly he felt tired, tired of hiding his very obvious feelings and tired of always thinking about what would happen if he accepted his feelings. Now he didn't care anymore, of course he should be really cautious regarding the fact that they could be harmed anywhere and anytime now that he's here but still he felt it was useless to hid his feelings.
