“Give me a whole new hand,” I sighed, dropping my five cards onto the table before crossing my arms. “You’re never dealing or shuffling again.”
“Mm. I second that,” Lisa Lisa mumbled, dropping her cards onto mine.
“I third it. Let’s just start the round again and someone else can deal,” Caesar said, swiping the cards from the table before plucking the rest from Joseph's hand.
The brunette pouted. “This is no fair,”
The day had started pretty plainly, nothing special happening unless you count Joseph falling a few times while racing someone down the stairs. A little while ago, he had convinced all of us to play poker with him, but no one had told me he had such a shitty dealing ability. We had been playing for a little over twenty minutes before Nina entered the room.
“Miss Lisa Lisa, you have a message from a guest outside. He says it’s very important,” She said politely.
“I’ll be right there,” Lisa Lisa said, standing up. “Y/n, when I get back, meet me outside on the balcony.”
“Which one?” I asked, to which she chuckled.
“The one with the bath pit,” She said.
“Okay,” I said, watching as she left the room, following after Nina.
“I hope she doesn’t think she’s going to be training you,” Joseph said, glaring in the direction of the door.
“Why?” I frowned. Joseph gave me that look like I was stupid. “I’m fine now, Joseph. It’s been like...four days.”
“I don’t care,” He said. “Once she gets training, Coach doesn’t know when to stop.”
“That’s what I came here for,” I said, glaring at him. “Caesar and you warned me about how tough it would be, and I still agreed to do it. If I didn’t want to go through the pain, I wouldn’t play the game.”
“I don’t care about your little sayings, Y/n,-”
“And I don’t care what you have to say, Joseph,” I said, raising my eyebrow. Caesar did as well. “I’m twenty-one years old and can make decisions on my own. I don’t need my nineteen-year-old cousin telling me what I can and cannot do. Now that’s final. I’ll see you both in a little bit.” I stood up and pushed my chair in, before leaving the room. I heard Joseph say something to Caesar, but I didn’t catch what it was. I decided to ignore it.
I brushed some hair away from my face as I walked towards the patio. I saw Nina coming down the hall. “Oh, Miss Y/n,” She said, her face lighting up. “Would you mind taking these things outside to the patio for me?”
“Sure,” I said, taking the towels and clothing from her hands and draped them over my arm. “Wouldn’t you like to go outside? It’s very nice weather today,” I said, glancing out the window to look at the cyan blue sky.
“Oh, no, I’m alright,” She said, shaking her head. “My skin and eyes are very sensitive to the sun. I burn very easily!” She said. I did notice that her skin always seemed a little pale, but I never thought much of it. Lisa Lisa was also very pale.
“Hm. Alright, but if you change your mind, come find me and we can do something together. It’s nice to have another woman to be with,” I said, shooting her a smile before walking away and towards the patio doors. I glanced over my shoulder, briefly catching Nina stepping around the sunlight on the ground that was pouring in from the windows. I felt my eyes narrow with suspicion, but I said nor did anything as I opened the door and walked outside. Lisa Lisa followed soon after, asking me to join her in the water.
