Chapter 2: I Don't Care That You'r Not Here

Katniss smiled as she swept the baby boy into her arms. He started to laugh when she spun him around the room. Peeta came in with a little girl holding tightly onto his arm.

“Mommy me and Daddy made you some bread.” She smiles sweet at Katniss. Katniss sets down the boy and walks over to the girl wiping the flour off of her face.

“Oh Electra baby that sounds so yummy. When can we eat some?” She asks. The girls electric sky blue eyes light up with joy.

“We are gonna eat it at dinner,” She says with a smile. “Mommy can you braid my hair? Daddy does not know how.” Katniss lets out a little laugh while her little six year old daughter spins a piece of black hair in her fingers.

“Sure Electra.” Katniss sat on the ground and put Electra in her lap. She pulled her hair and began to braid it in two braid that were tied off with two little blue ribbons.

“Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!” The little boy yells while running into Peeta's open arms.

“It's so not fair that he likes you better,” Katniss comments. “I mean Electra liked you better as a child too. Can't I have one child who likes me better?” Peeta laughs and sets the little boy on his shoulders.

“We could just have another child.” Peeta says. Katniss pats Electra's back telling her that she was done. After a big hug and kiss the little girl disappears up the stairs.

“Not even in your dreams. After Electra and Lux I think I'm good.” Katniss stands up and walks over to Peeta who welcomes her with open arms.

“Awww but Katniss.” He says.

“But nothing. No more children.” She kisses Peeta and takes the little boy off of his shoulders ruffing his blonde hair that curls at the ends. His gray eyes shine with happiness as he shifts to Peeta holding out his arms saying,

“Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy.”

“No. You are mine.” Says Katniss as she pulls him closer to her.

“DADDY, DADDY, DADDY!” He shouts.

“Fine, Take your son Peeta. Lux hates me.” Katniss shoves the four year old boy into Peeta's arms stomping off upstairs.It's just not fair. She thought.Peeta is such a loveable person and nobody likes me, not even the person who has been my best friend for so long. He just left, never to see me again. The only people who like me is Peeta and Electra. My own son does not even like me. Katniss walks past her daughter's room where she heard her at play pretending to be her mom saving the world form Present Snow. She walked into her room slamming the door behind her jumping onto the bed, stuffing her face into the pillow. This was not the first time her son Lux whined for Peeta and was unhappy when with Katniss and it took years for her daughter to treat Katniss the way she does now. It was not like Lux hated Katniss it was just that whenever Peeta and Katniss were in the same room Lux always wanted Peeta. When Katniss was not with Peeta Lux would be unhappy for a few minutes but would soon warm up to the idea of being with her. It was all flushed away when Peeta walked back in.

“Knock, Knock.” She hears a sweet voice say. Katniss lifts her head up to see Peeta whispering something to Lux. The boys gray eyes grow bright and he nods his head.

“I love you Mommy.” He says as he runs over to her bed stumbling a little on the way. He gets to the end and Katniss pulls him up. Lux then hugs her and snuggles into her resting his head on her stomach. A tear ran down Katniss's cheek because this was exactingly what she needed to feel better. Peeta always knew how to make her feel better.

“Come join Peeta?” Katniss asks and Peeta walks over and lays behind Katniss wrapping his arms around her giving her that safe feeling she always has with him.

“Mommy, Mommy, the phone is for you Mommy.” Katniss wakes to see a empty bed and her daughter standing in front of her.

“Who is it baby?” Katniss says rubbing her eyes.

“Aunt Annie.” She says. Electra believed that Annie was her and Lux's aunt even though she was not. Katniss pulled herself out of bed lifting her daughter off of the ground. Electra played with the pearl that was hanging from a necklaces Peeta had made her. She walked downstairs and took the phone from Peeta who was waiting for her. Peeta took Electra from Katniss kissing her on the cheek. His eyes shone a bright blue and his hair fell over his forehead in soft curls

“Hello?” Katniss says.

“Katniss.” She hears the sweet voice of Annie on the other line.

“How is life at home?” Katniss ask.

“Well Calder was wanting to come and see you guys because you were like his second parents when he was growing up because of Finnick and all. I would like to see you too.” I could hear the quiet tears on the other end from thinking about Finnick. That was a touchy subject for her.

“Oh I don't think Peeta would mind if you did.” When Calder was growing up Annie would come down and have Peeta and Katniss help her take care of him. It was what kept Peeta sane for so long without having any children. It took twenty years for Katniss to agree to have children and in through the twenty years Peeta had Calder. Now Calder is twenty-six and looks so much like Finnick and acts like him too. He has his mom soft eyes that were a bright green. He had curly bronze color hair and his features on his face were soft like Annie's.

“Oh good. Me and Calder will be down there soon.” Annie hung up and Katniss sighed walking into the kitchen. Peeta was at the table with the other kids waiting for Katniss so they could eat dinner.

“I wanted to sit by you but Daddy said he gets to. So that is why I sit here. So you can sit by both of us.” Says Electra kindly. Katniss sits in between Peeta and Electra.

“Annie and Calder are coming over. Is that ok?” Katniss asks.

“Very ok.” Peeta says.

“I LOVE Cal!” Electra says. On that sweet note they all ate dinner. Katniss loved the bread Electra made.

SO.... YA! You get to see what happened to Katniss and Peeta. Yes I did name their kids because I had to and I am sorry if you do not like the names I have picked out for them. They have meaning behind the names if that helps... I hope it does.
