Chapter 4: One too Many Guests

Katniss laid on the bed twisting and turning every which way. She could not forget the memories in the arena and another one was haunting her in her dreams.

Katniss was pinned to the ground with Clove sitting over her. Clove was tracing Katniss’ lips with the tip of her knife. Katniss struggled to get free but it was not working. Then something or someone pulled Clove off of Katniss. Then she saw Thresh beating Clove’s head in with a rock.

“You a friend of Rue’s?” He asks her. Katniss nods. “Well then I let you go just this once firegirl.”  

Katniss awoke to Peeta staring down at her, his eyes were laced with concern.

“Are you ok?” he asks. The memory was fresh in her mind and even though it was not just like it happen in the arena it still scared Katniss to no end. Katniss moved to press herself up against Peeta burying her head in his chest.

“Peeta, it was of the hungergames. Of that time Clove tried to kill me. It was awful.”

“Shhh, Katniss it is ok it was just a dream. Clove is dead and you are still here and I am always here for you,” Peeta says soothingly.

“I know Peeta, I know. You will always be here for me real or not real?” Katniss peers up from Peeta’s chest. Brushing her hair out of her eyes Peeta smiles.

“Real.” Katniss once again buries her face in Peeta’s chest. “And you will always be here for me Katniss real or not real?”

“Real,” Katniss mumbles from Peeta chest wrapping her arms around him. Peeta held Katniss for a long time but then had to stop when something jumped onto his back.

“DAD, YOU UP!?” Electra yells her black hair flying.

“Your dad is old Electra and it is not always the best to jump on his back.” Electra dropped from his back and goes over to Katniss.

“Mom, will you help me get ready and pick out what bows I should wear today?” She asks.

“Sure Baby doll, I’ll be out with you in a minute.” Katniss kisses her daughter on the head and then Electra ran out of the room. Katniss pulled away from Peeta getting off of the bed and opened a dresser draw shuffling through it for something to wear.

“Katniss, are you sure you will be ok when Annie and Calder come over today?” Peeta asks walking over to her. Katniss turns around and smiles shortly nodding her head.

“I don’t think that dream can get me for that long. I’m fine Peeta.” Katniss hugs Peeta resting her head on his bare chest. Katniss pulls back and starts to trace Peeta’s chest with her finger.

“I love you,” Katniss says when she finished.

“I love you too,” Peeta says back sweetly pulling Katniss into a sweet quick kiss. Soon the sounds of feet hitting the floor and the door swung open to a Electra running to Katniss.

“Mom, Mom! Aunt Annie and Cal are here!” Katniss lifts her up in her arms pulling her into a tight hug.

“Go meet them and let them in Mom and Dad need to get dressed, then I will help you with your hair. Got that?” Katniss sets Electra down and she nods running off.

“Hear that Peeta? We got to get ready to see our guests.” He nods and goes to the dresser and pulls out some things to put on. Katniss pulls out a black short sleeved and a pair jeans. She runs her fingers through her hair and then put it in a plan braid down her back. She then puts on a necklace that has just a plain pearl on it. She turns to Peeta taking in what he was wearing.
