Chapter 5: Everything is Coming Back

Gale couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Katniss. Just looking at her made him want to hold her. He had no idea why he had this feeling swimming inside of him. The name Catnip slipped of his tongue so easily like he has said it hundreds of times. He took a small step forwards then felt a strong hand on his back. He turned to see Lucas looking at him in the eyes.

“I don’t think it would be best if you talked to Katniss,”  he says. Gale had a feeling of need and want to talk to her. He saw a little boy with blonde curly hair run over to the man standing by Katniss. The man let go of Katniss’s hand and lifted up the boy. Katniss’s gaze never left Gale’s. Soon a young girl with long flowing brown hair ran over to Katniss. The hard gaze she was giving Gale finally broke when she grasped the little girl’s hand and whispered to her. The little girl let go of her hand and ran for Gale.

“Electra! Get over here now!” Katniss yelled but the little girl didn’t listen. The girl made her way over to Gale and stuck out a hand to Gale.

“I’m Electra, I am six. Mommy says she knows you.” The girl’s blue eyes glowed.

“I’m Gale.” Gale shook the girls hand. Katniss came up and lifted up Electra.

“Electra, I said not to go over here and talk to the men. Dad and I are going to do that.”

“But Mommy, you said you knew Gale. You know good people.” Katniss smiled and ruffled her hair.

“That is not true honey. Mommy has met some bad people. Now go inside to see Calder. I showed him how to braid a long time ago, I bet if you beg for a while he will braid your hair,” Katniss says then lets Electra down and she runs off.

“She is really cute. She kind of reminds me of Kavan when he was little.” Gale laughs a little at the memory of his son.

“Gale, don’t act like everything is alright because its not, and who the heck is Kavan,” Katniss snaps.

“Ummm, Kavan is my son.” Gale was confused. He was just trying to make small talk and then Katniss gets all pissy. What did he do to her?

“You have a son? Wow you really have moved on. You really just don’t care.” Katniss shook her head. “Shocking.”

“What don’t I care about?” Gale asks.

“Me. First you say you love me, then you drop bombs on my sister, and then disappear and never returned. You never denied killing her or said sorry.” Katniss was angry and Gale realized that was the past his wife was talking about.

“Now why would I do that?” he snaps. Gale wouldn’t believe it, he would never do such thing.

“Oh but you did. You crushed my dreams of running away in the woods, then later said you wanted to. You kissed me by the fence and said you loved me. You wanted me when I wanted Peeta. You may have done some good things Gale but the worst thing you did to me was kill off my sister then left. You never visited, called, or even acted like you knew who I was. What is wrong with you?” Katniss’s voice was rising and she poked her finger into Gale’s chest.

“It is because I don’t remember you!” Gale shouts. Katniss was dumbfounded. Katniss heard a sound behind her and turned around to see Calder holding the hand of Electra and Peeta was holding Lux. Annie must have been inside. Katniss forgot that there was people around her when she started yelling at Gale.

“Well thanks to you now I have a family to deal with,” Katniss says then walks over to Electra to pull her into a hug.

“Mommy, is he one of the bad people you knew?” Electra whispered into Katniss’s ear.

“He was good, he was my friend. He did bad things baby and now he is a bad man.” Katniss replied smoothing out Electra’s hair. She never got it braided. “Electra, lets all go inside. I can braid your hair and we can all calm down. After your dad and I will go out and see what the man wants.” Electra nodded and Katniss stood up and grasped the girl’s hand.

“He seemed like a nice man Mommy,” Electra says.

“Everyone seems nice at first.” With that Katniss walked inside with her daughter. Annie was on the couch mumbling about fighting and war and how it is evil while shaking her head. Calder sat down by her and started whispering. She seemed to calm down from his words a little. Katniss looked at Calder.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t plan on this happening. You know where your room is but I have to go upstairs and to my room for a little bit.” Calder nodded and Katniss took her daughter up to Katniss and Peeta’s room. She set Electra on her bed and braided her hair slowly in one braid and tied it off with a yellow ribbon.

“I’m going to play with Cal,” Electra informs Katniss before running out of the room. Peeta walks in and over to Katniss.

“Lux is downstairs with Calder. Now Katniss are you okay?” He asks.

“No, Gale says he doesn’t remember me. How could he not remember me? He did all these things to me and then just goes off gets married and lives a hunky-dory life of happiness while I am here being haunted every night by memories of the hungergames or of Prim being killed the way she was. Peeta I miss her. It is all Gale’s fault!” Katniss slammed her hand on the bed. Peeta sat behind Katniss and pulled her into a hug. She rested the back of her head onto his chest.

“Katniss, maybe Gale did forget.” Katniss closed her eyes.

“How?” She asks.

“Well, remember when Lux found that little vial that I showed you. It had tracker jacker venom in it. I know that stuff can erase your memory. It can change your thoughts. I have had it happen to me. I always thought the vial must of been his. He could have drank it, tried to kill himself, or forget about you. You never know what his motives were. He does not know either.”

“Well. what gives him the right to be here?” Katniss asks.

“I don’t know. We will have to find out later. Right now you need sleep. Now sleep and I will see how everyone is doing.” Peeta stayed with Katniss until she drifted off. Then he went to see if everyone was okay.

Gale stood outside not knowing what just happened. That Katniss girl made him so angry but yet he didn’t want her to leave.

“You alright Gale?” Lucas asked.

“Fine.” Gale saw something small ahead of him. He remembered that guy Katniss was with had dropped it. He assumed it was Peeta. He walked forwards and picked up the little vial. He spun it around in his fingers looking at it carefully. Then it came to him, the vial, Katniss, Peeta, everything. It all came to him. Came crashing down on him. He felt light headed. Everything Katniss said he did to her was true, his dark past was real. Gale could hardly stand. He couldn’t hardly think. It was all coming back to him at once. Memory after memory of Katniss, Peeta, of his past. Just by looking at this little vial his whole life unfolds. His love for Katniss unfolds. Gale was confused, he loved Hannelore, he had a son. Katniss was married and had children of her own. He couldn’t love her. Yet he did. Gale did the only thing he could. He fainted.

Well this is chapter 5! I am updating like crazy... it is because I am full of ideas! 

Well the next Chapter will hopfully be up soon! :D A song inspired me to write it. Its Three Days Grace of course! 

So the next chapter will be up most likely sunday or monday. Don't think I will have it up Satureday because well... MY SISTER IS GETTING MARRIED THAT DAY! WOOT WOOT! 

She has a freaking awesome husband and I just can't wait!
