Pink Highlighter

The pink highlighter fell off the stand and rolled away from the comfort of it's home.
It lay far away in the dust, unnoticed by the person who owned it.
Hiding under the lip of a mountain,
It wondered where it was,
And why is suddenly felt so alone.

Forgotten by the person who had made it useful,
it lay there for hour upon hour.
Watching people file in and out of the big room where it was.
No one ever seemed to see it lying there.
It was all alone in a world that seemed much to big for it.
It seemed no one cared for it at all.
It thought that it had been a good highlighter.
But it's disappearance seemed to have gone unnoticed.

Then after a long time a pair of gentle hands found it lying there.
They lifted it up to a new place where it could see the beauty of the world it lived in.
And it wasn't back to the person that had used it and cared for it,
But now it had hope.
And that was almost just as good.
