The Flower's Friend

Some may be content
to be your average damsel.

But. Not. Me.

I can do it on my own,
thanks.

I'm not. Your. Average. Damsel.

I'll save myself from the horrors
that lie just beyond the wall.

I'm no damsel. In. Distress.

I may be ugly and
prickly and unpleasant.

But. I'm. Fine.

I picked the Flower up
when you made her fall.

I can. Help. Her.

I can be beautiful
in my own way.

I don't. Need. You.

The sun doesn't get to me.
The water doesn't drown me.
The gardener doesn't touch me.

I'm. Fine.

Sorry guys!!! I know I haven't done anything in a while. I've been out of town. For those of you actually following this book: if you remember the last poem was about a flower. This is a poem from her friend (the prickly pear cactus) who has a very different view of life. I love y'all!!! Thank you for reading my stuff!!
