chirps from birds echoed across the room, the greenery surrounding the room was beautiful, wilbur sighed in content as he sat next to fundy by the stream, wilbur dangled his legs in the cool water as he observed the room, admiring the greenery.
as wilbur sat with fundy by the stream, a thought lingered in his mind, 'hey fundy.' wilbur called, fundy turned, 'yeah?' fundy answered.
wilbur hesitated, 'tell me about your visions, fundy.' wilbur blurted. fundy raised an eyebrow before furrowing them, 'what do you mean?' fundy asked, his voice laced with suspicion as his eyes glared at wilbur.
wilbur gulped as he faced fundy's glare, 'i mean...how do you know what your visions mean?' wilbur asked cautiously. wilbur watched as fundy turned away from him as he nervously caressed floris who laid in his lap.
'where's all this vision stuff coming from?' fundy asked as he faced the stream, trying to calm his heart as he looked at his reflection in the water. wilbur laughed silently, 'i just realised how little i know of you, wouldn't you it be good to know each other a little?' wilbur said.
fundy fell silent.
'i didn't offend you, did i fundy?' wilbur asked as he noticed fundy fell silent. fundy took a deep breath before he turned back to face wilbur, 'no, i just am not used to deep talks with someone.' fundy said as he forced a smile on his face.
'then let this be the first to many!' wilbur exclaimed as he threw his hands up excitedly, fundy chuckled lightly, 'the truth is...' fundy paused, 'i don't understand my visions, sorry if that disappoints you.' fundy said nervously as his face fell solemn.
wilbur's eyes widened, 'then-' wilbur spoke.
'sometimes, my visions project the direct future. other times, my visions are vague.' fundy interrupted, 'some visions i can distinguish, some i cant.' fundy said, his voice cracking.
'why is that?' wilbur asked gently as he pat fundy on the back softly, encouraging him to continue.
fundy's eyes glimmered as he faced wilbur, 'my visions are vague so i don't try to change our fates if i see a fate i don't like. i often only understand my visions' meanings after it happens.' fundy answered.
'some say this power is a blessing but in truth its a curse, just because i can see the future doesn't mean i can change it. ive seen futures that were never going to happened yet what i saw still haunts me, i feel useless.' fundy continued as a tear rolled down his cheek.
pain shot through wilbur's heart, how could i not have known he was suffering so much deep down. wilbur thought. 'your not useless.' wilbur comforted fundy as he placed a hand on fundy's shoulder.
fundy shrugged off wilbur's hand as he picked up floris and stood, wilbur watched as fundy crossed the stream and stood by a window, wilbur followed after fundy and caught a glimpse of what fundy was staring at.
wilbur watched as a smile slowly appeared on fundy's face as he stared at the training ground where the knights were training. the two stood silently as they watched knights train, 'dad, i know you want the best for me by keeping me here.. but i don't want this. i don't want to be stuck here.' fundy said as he bent over, placing floris on the floor who happily hopped around.
wilbur sighed, 'fundy, you know why your kept here. its for your safety.' (rapunzel vibes)
'mom always told me theres always a solution to every problem.' fundy argued as he glared at wilbur.
'and what solution would that be?' wilbur said back as he crossed his arms. 'let me learn to fight! let me learn to meet new people, what good is a king who cant even protect himself?' fundy pleaded as he pointed towards the training ground.
'nonsense, philza will protect you.' wilbur said as he walked away from the window.
'he cant protect me forever!' fundy yelled, 'please dad i don't want to spend my whole life in here. i couldnt do anything when mom died, let me do this PLEASE!' fundy pleaded as he grabbed wilbur by his arm.
'don't yell at me.' wilbur said coldly as he snatched his arm back, 'the day i lost your mother was the day i swore that id keep you safe at all costs, even if i have to lock you in this tower. do you hear me!' wilbur ordered, his voice startling floris.
fundy's heart dropped as tears spilled out of his eyes. instantly, wilbur felt regret over his words as he hesitantly reached for fundy, 'fundy you must understand, you're our heir. the kingdom will spiral into chaos if i don't have an heir, what will happen when i lose you?.' wilbur said as he placed a hand on fundy.
'you already did.' fundy said coldly as he walked away from wilbur with floris tagging behind him, oblivious to what happened.
as fundy turned and left, wilbur felt his heart sink into sadness and he felt hopeless. wilbur turned towards the window as he stared down at the training ground. his eyes landed on tommy who laughed as he sparred with tubbo, wilbur watched amusingly as tubbo threw rocks at tommy playfully while tommy tackled tubbo. wilbur laughed softly as he watch tommy and tubbo laugh at their clumsiness.
immediately, an idea sank into wilbur's mind. wilbur sighed at the thought, for fundy wilbur thought. wilbur turned as he strode towards fundy, wilbur grabbed fundy arms as he dragged fundy over to the window, 'let go of me!' fundy yelled as he struggled out of wilbur's grip.
wilbur let go of fundy, 'fundy, im sorry.' wilbur apologised. fundy stood there in shock as he readjusted his tunic, 'that's all you have to say?' fundy asked, his voice failed to hide the anger written on his face.
'one more thing.' wilbur said before turning towards the window as he unlocked it and swung it open, im gonna regret this. wilbur mumbled before yelling TOMMY!! at the top of his lungs, wilbur watched as the knights halted in their training as the training ground too fell silent, wilbur spotted tommy turn to face wilbur with a horrified yet confused expression.
'get up here. NOW!' wilbur yelled once more before slamming the window shut, the sound of knights training slowly rising again as knights resumed their training. embarrassment began to sink in as wilbur turned back to see fundy struggling to stifle his laughter.
soon after, an exhausted tommy appeared in front of wilbur, 'not only huff i had to climb.. stairs.. huff i had to wander around this... huff room searching for you.' tommy said as he caught his breath.
tommy straightened himself as he faced wilbur, his eyes immediately landing on the mysterious slim figure besides wilbur, 'tommy, id like you to meet my son, prince fundy.' wilbur introduced.
tommy's eyes widened as he bowed, tommy strode up to fundy as he eyed him, 'so your the mysterious prince ive heard all about, even wilby wouldn't spill.', fundy nodded nervously as he smiled awkwardly.
wilbur came in between them, 'as i was saying, i want to entrust you with teaching my son some fighting techniques.' wilbur said to tommy. wilbur watched as fundy's jaw hung loose as his eyes sparkled, 'wait dad your letting me learn to fight?!' fundy asked excitedly.
wilbur smiled weakly, 'i saw that you had a point and i trust that your in good hands. plus, your mother would agree with you regardless.' wilbur said before turning back to tommy, 'make sure you don't lay a scratch on him or i will have your head, got it?' wilbur threatened.
tommy gulped, 'of course wilby, you can count on me.' tommy said with a large smile as he walked up to fundy and shook his hand, 'fundy huh? call me tommy, your highness. nice to meet ya, big f. come, ill bring you to meet the team, lets go!' tommy said as he dragged fundy out of the room with floris tagging along excitedly behind fundy.
fundy turned to face wilbur before they left, 'have fun!' wilbur yelled after.
thank you dad fundy mouthed before he followed after tommy, excited to see what would come.
