Adding on to my A/N from last chapter, but Sunset is actually canonically bi, confirmed on twitter by one of the creators. Which I love a lot actually. So thats what's I'm going with!
"Uh... Sunset?" Twilight asked. "What are you doing?"
Sunset was currently standing by the front door of Twilight's house.
"I'm here to pick you up?"
It wasn't like she had planned to drive here to pick Twilight up. Her and the others had texted each other, to find ways to make sure that Twilight wouldn't overexert herself. That someone should drop Twilight to school, and that ended up being Sunset's job (though there was a high chance that she would have done it anyway).
"Again, you don't have to overdo the taking care of me," Twilight insisted.
"Yeah well, I can drive now, and I'm not about to just let you walk. Also... it's starting to drizzle."
"How convenient," Twilight said. "But fine. You can take me."
"For the record Sci, this isn't because I think I owe you or something." Okay, partially a lie. "All of our friends agreed on this because we care, and we know that you're going to insist that you're fine, and then end up doing something that will disturb your recovery."
"I think that applies to you more than me."
Sunset guffawed. "I didn't ask you to call me out like that!"
"You did it first."
She shrugged. "I guess. Also, if I was the one with the broken wrist, you'd probably be overprotective, right?"
She did her best to ignore what exactly that question could have meant, and pretended to not care about what the answer would be.
"Okay, you're right. I care for you a lot, and wouldn't want to see you hurt yourself."
Sweet Celestia, she could feel just how much she was smiling, but she just couldn't suppress it.
"Exactly. That's how I feel about you."
The look on Twilight's face made things so much better, but also so much worse. Her purple eyes gleamed brightly, her smile wide. If only things could have been like this every day.
Snap! Out! Of! It! You can't let her know! You're supposed to get over it!
"You know Sunset, have I ever told you that I love you?"
Waitwaitwaitwaitwait-
"You're always there for me, and I feel like I haven't appreciated you enough."
Waitwaitwaitwaitwait-
"Thank you for being in my life, and for being my best friend."
Okay, okay. She means this platonically. She platonically loves me. That makes a lot more sense.
"I- I love you too," Sunset said back. "So come on, get in the car."
It was a quick way to end the conversation, which was only going to get more dangerous for her. She couldn't risk having her feelings be known.
They went in the car and drove to school. They sat in silence, and it was a little odd. She felt like she needed to say something, but she couldn't figure out what it was. It was probably for the best though, so she wouldn't get too distracted while driving. She turned into the school's parking lot, and they walked into the school.
