"Who's your favourite princess of Equestria?" Twilight asked.
Sunset gave her a secretive grin. "It's Princess Twilight, but don't let either of the Celestias hear that."
She snorted, and it was adorable. "I can imagine it. 'Even with magic, I'm still not cool enough?'"
"Nah, I think Luna'd say that."
"So how was Luna as a pony?"
"I met her like... twice. She was banished to the moon until a few pony years ago."
"... magic is weird. How long?"
"About a thousand years. It was actually Celestia who banished her."
"What? What happened?"
Sunset shrugged. "Something about an eternal night. And well... every pony was taught to think of it as a... sh*t what's the word..."
"Story? Fairy-tale?"
"Yes!" She blurted, clapping her hands together. "Fairy-tale! That's what we learned the story as!"
"But didn't Celestia run the school? Why would she let that happen?"
"I have no clue. Didn't think much about it at the time."
"Okay then?"
Sunset shrugged, because really, what else was there to say to that? They sat there in silence, but it wasn't the good kind. It felt almost empty, but she wasn't really sure what to say.
"So, about school," Twilight began. "I doubt that any of you are going to let me even hold my books, let alone read from them."
Oh yeah, that did sound like a problem. But all she wanted was for Twilight to have a swift recovery. Sunset knew that Twilight would pass her exams with flying colours, but she knew that in a way, it was mostly just a comfort.
"I can help you study. We have more similar learning styles, I think?" Sunset offered.
I'm just trying to make my own life difficult at this point! She fought back a groan, and instead of rubbing her face with her hand, she fiddled with her fingers. It was a lot less noticeable.
"That would be nice. It's definitely easier than studying using physical activities, or attempting to talk to animals."
Sunset laughed as she remembered when they were helping Rainbow Dash study. Her body had ached for at least a week.
"Great!" And if her voice was higher pitched and cracked, neither of them acknowledged it. "You feeling better?"
"I'm doing better," Twilight replied.
"You sure about that?" Spike asked. "Sunset, if something happens I'm stealing Twilight's phone and calling you. I'm sure I can figure out how to do that."
Twilight looked annoyed. "Spike!" She stood up. "You can take me home now. Thank you for everything."
But it won't be enough until you've recovered.
"Of course!"
Unlike the ride to Sunset's, the ride didn't feel that long. Just a quick drop-off, and she was back. After laying on the sofa for a few minutes, she reached for her video game controller.
As her hand touched it though, her phone rang. A quick look showed her that it was Timber.
He usually doesn't call me that often. I wonder what he needs for Twilight. She smiled solemnly. I'm not sure how to feel about the fact that he came to me. It's so hard giving advice.
She picked up the phone. "Hello?"
"Hi Sunset!" He replied, his tone a little worried.
"Is everything okay?"
"I heard about what happened to Twilight. Is she doing okay? I called her a few times but she's not picking up."
That's why he called. Can't say I'm surprised. But I guess it is nice that he cares so much. At least she's not dating a jerk.
"She's probably taking a shower. I just dropped her home, so that's why."
He sighed in relief. "That's good. I uh... not to accuse you, but I heard you had something to do with it?"
"Uh, I mean technically yes but it was an accident. Telekinesis accident."
He laughed. "I'm not going to get used to the whole 'people have superpowers' thing, am I? Alright, I just wanted to see what was going on. Take care of Twilight, okay? If either of you need help, you can call, okay? I have to go now, have a good day!"
"I'll take care of her, don't worry. You have a good day too. Bye!"
She hung up the phone. It was actually kind of cute how much he cared.
Be glad he's so nice. Don't be all jealous, because they like each other. Get over her, before you ruin your friendship and her relationship.
But it was just so hard. Sunset had tried so many times, but if anything, her crush was only intensifying. The more she learned about Twilight, the more difficult it was going to be. At this point, it could get to the point where the only way to get over her was to distance herself. But she didn't want to do that.
Besides, friendship isn't worse than romance. Friendship is literally magic!
She knew that platonic relationships were perfectly fine. It was just in this case, she wanted the romance.
Before she could think better of it, she grabbed the leather book that always kept nearby her. Even its mere presence was a good comforter. With a pen, she wrote.
'Dear Princess Twilight,
I've been really conflicted with something recently. Am I allowed to ramble?'
Surprisingly, it was only a few minutes later when she got a reply.
'Sure! Go ahead! Canterlot High isn't in danger, right?'
'No,' Sunset wrote. 'We're all fine. It's just... romance problems.'
'You have a crush? Who?'
'It's the human you.'
'Huh. That's cool! So what's the problem?'
Sunset frowned and felt the urge to bite her pen. But she didn't and kept writing. 'She's dating someone else.'
'Do you approve of them?'
'I think he's a good guy. He's been sweet. But my feelings are strong and I don't want to ruin the friendship Sci and I share. Do you have any advice?'
'To be honest Sunset... I have no experiences with romance. Nobody's ever had a crush on me, and I've had one crush ever but it's not like it was ever going to go anywhere. I'll try and give some advice though!'
'Thank you.'
Sunset waited for the advice to come. To be quite honest, it was kind of clear that Twilight didn't have much experience with romance. Some advice was basic knowledge, but at least she was trying, and that was what really mattered.
If the worst case scenario happened though, Sunset would distance herself. It would hurt, it would hurt a lot. But in the end, losing this crush would make life so much easier.
1) Trying to decide whether Sunset is lesbian or bi. (Leaning towards lesbian. Because really, she dated flash, but did she like Flash?) Also Twilight is bi ace change my mind (totally not projecting the ace part. nooooo)
2) Ik its in this fic's description, but I'm not gonna bash Timber. No toxicity. Maybe an argument or two, but its gonna be healthy!
