Chapter 2

Somewhere I Belong

Maybe I scared the girl or something, but when I entered the living room, Luke had already put his clothes back on. I managed to change out of my clothes, leaving them in the bathroom for him to pick up. Now, I walked back out, suitecase in hand, old but comfy sweatpants, and warm big cargo jacket.

In the bathroom, I had time to call Finn to tell him to pick me up. No questions asked, when he didn't answer, I left a voice mail.

I was hoping Luke would comfort me in his warm arms after the night I've had. Turns out he was comforting another unfortunate soul.

Luke jumped up from the coach, when he saw me enter. Staring at him now, I felt bad for him. Why do you ask, after he just cheated on me? Well, he honestly doesn't have much to go on. Looking around the apartment he has, he usually spends his days couped up inside until he thinks of a new song, then heads to the studio. Yes, he is a musician. Is he any good? Well...

Once he stood infront of me, I didn't spare him a glance as I started heading towards the door. The stumbling of feet were heard, until he blocked my exit.

"Elsa, wait. Let me explain." He pleaded.

Ignoring him, I tried to side step him. Again, he stood in my way.

Sighing, I looked down. Raising my head, his chocolate colored eyes stared back at me. Begging me to understand. No one said a word. I let it lengthen, not speaking, but letting the silence sink in.

Hitching up my bag, I walked to the door, not letting him stop me this time. He moved away, as if he was just there, floating. I guess, he finally understood it was over.

Once in the hallway, Luke exclaimed, "I love you, Elsa!" Desperation heard in his voice.

Shutting the door, in his face, I made my way outside, waiting for the Finn to pick me up. Downstairs, I had time to think. Why would you do that to someone you supposedly loved? I mean come on, if you can't keep it in your pants longer than a day, then you have some problem.

Shaking my head, I crossed the street, heading to the Portegues Cafe at the corner of the block. The broken street lamps flickering atop me. Some didn't even light while the next one would be a few feet away.

All the while, I didn't know it, but something was watching me, following, waiting, and hunting.

___________

Stupid Finn!

Always late.

Ugh, this is why I never ask him for a ride. He's either, lazy, held up at work, or just lazy. Sighing, I took a sip of coffee, staring out the store window. The drops of rain sliding down the top of the window sill. I sat alone by the window, the letters of the Cafe on the glass. My bag beside me, everyone else in their own mindless chatter. The smell of warm, cooked bread in the air.

Inhaling a bit, I was tempted to buy some. But then, I only had a limited amount of money on myself.

The last bits, of the sun going down, until dusk passes and night arrives. Young people going out, to parties, others walking the streets, and the rest have some place to be. All this time, I'm thinking, I'm going to kill Finn, better yet I'll let Antonio do it. Crap, I should've called him, instead.

While I'm having mental problems, I don't see him until he taps my  shoulder, sitting down before me.

Breaking me out of my thoughts, I look up from my plastic cup, to another complete stranger. Second one today, I'm on a record.
