Chapter 6

Lily POV~
I wake up earlier then usual.  Everyone was awake, eating, talking and reading.  Very loud.  How don't I wake up to this?

I quickly got dressed and sat next to Ponyboy on the couch and he quickly put down his book.  Weird.

"H-Hey L-Lily" He smiled awkwardly.

"Hi..." I say slowly.

We were staring at each other awkwardly.

"You wanna say something?" Soda said grinning.

The gang became kinda interrested after he said that and Soda gave them a look and the whole gang gasped.

"Um.." He turned a little red.

"Am I.. is there something I'm missing?" I ask.

"Um.." Pony shook his head. "They're being dumb.  Want a slice of cake?"

I nod slowly. "Sure.. thanks."

He stood up and went to the kitchen.

Did he read my letter? No.. no no no no no no no he can't! Oh gosh.. no wonder he's acting weird! He doesn't like me back.  Oh my gosh.. no.  I asked him not to and he respected that.  He didn't read my letter.

Ponyboy POV~
I grabbed a chocolate cake out of the fridge.  Oh my gosh.  That was so awkward.  I couldn't do it.

"Pony, what happened?" Soda asked quietly.

"I got scared!"

"Don't be scared!" He grabbed my shoulder. "She likes you too! It was written down! You read proof! Worst case scenario would be if she says no! Which she won't"

"But what if she doesn't say yes?"

"She WILL!" He shook me.

"Alright alright!" I grabbed the slice of cake and went back and handed it to Lily

Lily POV~
"Thanks." I said said blankly when he handed me the cake.

"Can I ask you something?" He asks.

"Look I'm sorry I know you read the letter I'm sorry alright I don't know what I was writing! I swear! I was tired ok! I'm sorry don't be mad at me! Please!" I said quickly.

He stared at me grinning. "All I wanted to ask was if you wanted to go out with me.  You know, get some food then see a movie?"

Oh my gosh. "Th-that's all you wanted t-to ask me?"

He nodded.

I stare at him. "Oh my god." I said as I hid my face in my hands.  I was deadass embarrased.

I heard him laugh.

After a while, I looked back up at him. "Sure.  I'd love to go out with you."

"Alright.  Cool." He smiled and then went back to reading.  I layed back.  Wow.  He asked me out on a date. 

A few hours later, it was time I get ready.  I didn't exactly have a dress... either way I don't like dresses.  I wore jeans, a tied eye t-shirt and a black bucket hat that says 7 Rings because I'm a HUGE Ariana Stan.  I was sort of, just sort of scared.  So while waiting, I wrote Selena another letter.

Selena,
PONYBOY ASKED ME OUT ON A DATE AND NOW AHH!! I CANNOT WAIT! Maybe he'll ask me to be his girlfriend.. OH I CANNOT WAIT! Wish me luck! Hope you and school are doing well.  Stay safe. Bye!

I put the letter in my back pocket and wait in the living room.  We were told to wait until Darry and Soda come home.

"You look.."

"What?" I ask Pony. "Is it the hat? I'm sorry.  I love Ariana Grande.  She's like.. my spirit animal and my guide through life.  I had to bring it-"

He laughs. "It's not the hat.  You look beautiful."

I nodded. "Thanks."

"Lily?" He asked.

"Sorry I zoned out." I blushed.

He smiled. "Alright."

"Ooh Lily you lookin' gorgeous." Dally said smirking.

Pony held my waist close to him with a tight grip.

"Thank you." I tell him.

"You and him goin' out?" Two-Bit asked.

I nodded.

"Can I-"

"I won't let you be the third wheel."

His smile dropped. "I'll follow you guys."

"Two-Bit.."

"Alright alright." He said.

Pony and I spent most of our time waiting in his room talking, reading, laughing, you know.  He made me feel things I've never felt.  Soon enough we heard Darry, Soda and Steve walk in.  Pony raced out the room and I heard him say "Does that mean we can leave now?"

"We?" Darry asks.  He doesn't know Ponyboy asked me on a date.  He left to work early.

"Yeah I asked Lily on a date."

I walk out of the room and he looked at me then back at Pony. "Stay close to her.  Keep her safe.  Don't dump her somewhere alone and-"

"I get it" He says.

Darry nodded. "Have fun."
