Neveah POV
"Please I'm sorry! Please stop!" I choke out as my face is awarded with another kick.
"But this is what little sluts deserve no?" He replies.
"I won't do it again. I promise. Just.. please... stop hurting me." I say, closing my eyes at the excruciating pain in my head.
It's silly of me to even attempt to beg him for mercy, but I'm so tired and just want to hide in my bed.
"Fine, I'll do as you wish." He stops and shrugs his shoulders. My body sags in relief when I see him turn and walk away. But not even a second later his foot is flying towards my face and everything goes black.
I jump up from my position on the floor as I scan my surroundings looking for him. I look to the clock on the wall to see that it is one a.m. I've been out for three hours.
When I saw he wasn't there , I made my way up the stairs to my room. It wasn't anything special, just a bed, wardrobe and a small bathroom. I went and got the first aid kit I have hidden in the bottom of my wardrobe, and went to the bathroom to assess my Surely broken up face.
I was sporting a fresh black eye, a busted lip and dried blood from my nose that I'm surprised isn't broken. It wasn't always like this , we use to be happy. I was never allowed to go to school. My uncle took me out of school when I was 7. Ever since then, I've been teaching myself from books in the library.
This year I've asked my uncle to let me go to school for my senior year as I've wanted to go to school for ages but wasn't allowed. It took a lot of convincing and beatings but nonetheless he agreed saying how he wouldn't have to hear my annoying voice whining all the time.
After sorting out my poor excuse of a face with antiseptic wipes and cheap concealer, I grab my keys to my old, second hand car and drive to my favourite place.
I'm excited to start school. It's always been a dream of mine to go there. I know, I know. What teenager would want to go to school right? Well for me it's a way to get away from that hell hole of a home, if you'd even call it that, and to make friends.
It's a new beginning.
I finally arrived at my destination. It was a little café not too far from my house. It was owned by a kind old lady, miss Evan's, She was like a grandmother to me and was pretty much the only person who cared about me. Obviously I didn't tell her about what happens at home, I don't want to worry her.
I walked in and grabbed an apron to start serving the few customers that were already here. I work here just to help out because she can't do it all on her own, I don't do it for money, it's just to get out of the place I call home. I've tried telling her many times that I don't need the money, yet that doesn't stop her from trying to give me money each day. She gives me five dollars after work, which to be honest, I'm grateful for because I'm never given money at home unless it's to go buy alcohol or smokes for my uncle.
As I was just finishing up serving a customer, I heard the bell jingle at the door indicating that someone had entered the café. It was.... a little boy? He was alone. I walked over to him and bent down to be eye level with him. " Hey kid, you alright?" He was short with dirty blonde hair and grey eyes. He must've been at least 5 or 6. " Do you know where your parents are?" No reply. "Okayyyyy ummmm are you lost?" He shook his head up and down. So he can understand me.
" Okay, how bout we go and get some ice cream and u can show me where you last saw your parents yeah?" His eyes lit up and he vigorously nodded his head while slightly jumping up and down on the spot. "Haha okay let's go" I took his hand in mine and I quickly told miss Evan's that I was heading out and that I'll be back tomorrow.
