7th July, 1968

Mick and I have been dating for about a month now and its been great. He treats me like a gentleman and I couldn't ask for anything more really. Even Pete got along well with him to my surprise as he was so critical of my past boyfriends and boys I have had a thing with in the past few years. I knew he wanted the best for me but it was extremely annoying.

Tonight 'The Who' were playing quite a big gig at a venue in London and of course I was invited and decided to bring Mick with me. He hadn't seen them live before and I was excited for him to see his reactions to Pete's amazing music.

"Is this ok?" Mick shows me his outfit. He was wearing a black Fred Perry polo shirt under his blue denim jacket and a pair of black trousers. "You look great, I'd prefer the shirt off though." He smirks, picking me up from his bed and kisses me. "Don't smudge my makeup!" He chuckles, putting me down, "Sorry darling."

We make our way to the venue, cutting the line as we were on the guest list. The room back stage was fairly busy to my surprise. "You want a drink?" Mick asks me and I nod as he makes his way over to the bar. I stood waiting on my own before I feel a pair of hands go around my eyes, "Guess who?" I chuckle, having no idea who it is. "Mick Jagger?" I hear a scoff before the person spins me around. I turn around to see John, "Jagger? Really?" I giggle, "I had no idea. Too bad I got my hopes up." He laughs, hitting my arm slightly.

"Excited for the gig?" I ask him and he nods enthusiastically, "Yes! I love playing in London. Your home crowd is always the best no doubt." I grin, "Where's the rest of the band?" He shrugs, "Probably in the dressing room doing their hair or something." I laugh, "You should try doing yours." I joke and he pretends to be offended, "How dare you!"

"There you go, babe." Mick hands me my drink and I thank him, taking a sip. "John, this is Mick. Mick, this is John, he plays bass in the band." Micks smiles, holding his hand out to John, "Nice to meet you." John shakes his hand, "So, you're the lucky guy, eh?" Mick furrows his eyebrows slightly, "Yes, I am." He puts his arm around me.

"Well, I'll leave you guys to it," John gives me a hug, "See you after the show, Annie." I wave, "See you later, John." As John walks away, Mick turns to me, "What was up with him?" I furrow my eyebrows, "What?" He shrugs, "Why was he asking me if I was the lucky one?" I giggle, "Because you're with me!" I joke, kissing him. "Still, that's odd." I roll my eyes, taking another sip of my drink.

Just as the support act was leaving the stage, we make our way to the crowd and I'm so excited to see the guys perform. They make their way on stage, into their usual positions. Pete holds his guitar up in the air, greeting the crowd causing them to cheer. I notice how Roger's hair was slightly longer than when I last saw him, he must be growing it out. As if on cue, he looks over at me sending me a quick wink, grinning. I blush, praying Mick didn't notice. Luckily, he was oblivious.

They start off their set playing 'Substitute', a song they had released recently. By the end of their second song, the gig was in full swing and the crowd was going crazy. The Who really knew how to put on a show, there was always a fantastic atmosphere in the venue. I look over at Mick who was nodding his head to the music, "You like it?" I ask him and he nods, "It's great." I smile, so glad that my boyfriend likes my best friend's music.

I hear the one chord intro to 'The Kids Are Alright' and I grin, spinning around knowing it was my song. By this point in the set I was fairly drunk, which was unlike me but I was having a great time. Mick laughs a me, holding me still, "Is this your favourite?" He asks me, "This is my song!" I shout, dancing. Mick tilts his head in confusion, "Your song?" I nod, "Pete wrote it for me!"

Roger sings the song beautifully as always and I notice that he looks at me whilst he is singing it, knowing it was written for me. 'I don't mind other guys dancing with my girl, that's fine I know them all pretty well' I grin at Roger and he sends a smile back before dancing on stage to the rest of the song. The song ends and I clap my hands in the air, cheering. Pete notices me and smiles widely.
