Tris' POV
I wake up in a room with four gray walls, a dresser, and the bed I'm laying in. I start to freak out, but remember where I'm at. I get out of bed and walk towards the dresser to see if there are any clothes. I find the contents from my bag in there.
I grab jeans, some different undergarments, and...and...a sweatshirt. Tobias's sweatshirt. I hold it up to my nose and inhale deeply. I've been gone for atleast a good month and it still smells like him. I take it and leave the room.
I walk through the hallway in search of the bathroom. Luckily the first door I open up is just that. When I come out throughly fresh I walk to what might be the kitchen. When I walk in Jared is sitting at a table in the middle of the room eating some type of cereal.
He looks up and smiles. "Tris, your up. Great. I have a job for you to do."
"A job?," I ask.
"That is what I said," he says.
He kind of reminds me of Uriah being all cheerful. "Now if you don't want to get anything nice dirty I suggest you change."
I look down at my sweatshirt...Tobias's sweatshirt...and walk back to the room I slept in. When I get to the room I take off my sweatshirtand grab a t-shirt. As I get ready to put it on something falls out of it.
I bend down and pick up what seems to be a picture. I turn it over and a picture of Tobias and I stares back. I remember this day. My friends and I were at the park in the city to just relax in the weather and Christina being the stalker she is finally got one good picture of us, since we never do get a good picture.
~Flashback~
"Uriah. You get down from that swing and let me swing," Zeke yells.
"No I was here first," Uriah yells.
"Oh those two are a joy," Tobias says.
I laugh and lean my head against his shoulder.
"They remind me of children," I say
"Well they pretty much are, " Tobias says with a laugh.
I smile. "Do you think we'll ever have children?," I ask.
Tobias looks down at me with and arched brow. "What's making you ask that all of a sudden?"
"Well coming here and seeing Zeke, Uriah, and other children around the park play around had me thinking. Do you want children?," I ask.
"Well ya ofcourse I want children. I've always wanted a child to treat better than I was treated," he says. I give him a sad smile. "But you know what the best part of having a child would be?," he asks.
"What?," I ask.
"Having that child with you."
I smile and and lean my head up to kiss him smiling, but before I get there I here a snap and get blinded by a flash. Tobias and I both look forward to see a smiling Christina with a camera.
"Finally! I finally got a picture of them," she screams running off.
Tobias and I both look at each other still smiling and lean in this time kissing.
~End of Flashback~
I smile and tear falls from my eye to the picture. I miss him so much. I put the picture away, throw that t-shirt on and walk back to the kitchen.
"Hey are you OK? You look like you've been crying," Jared says.
"Oh sorry I'm fine."
"Alrighty. Well lets go," he says smiling like always.
He walks me to a barn about half a mile away from the house. He takes out a key and unlocks it opening it up.
"So are you an amity?," I ask.
"What's an amity?," he asks.
"Nevermind. Stupid question."
He leads me into the barn walking all the way to the end grabbing a bucket. He throws it at me and I just barely catch it. I give him a questioning look.
He says, "I'm letting you stay here and it ain't sure as hell going to be free."
"So you want me to do what with this bucket?," I ask.
"Follow me," he says.
He leads me to a different, but smaller barn next to it. When I walk in all I see is chickens. Rows and rows of chickens.
"Umm..." I start to say, but he cuts me off.
"I want you to go to every chicken in this barn and collect every egg they have layed. There should be about two in each nest. Once you run out of room in the bucket grab another and keep filling it up until you have collected all the eggs and then bring them back to the house," he says.
He walks out without letting me say anything. I look around the room and walk to the end. I stand on my tiptoes to look into one of the nests. I reach for an egg and put it in the bucket. Wow this is going to be easy. I go to reach for another one, but the chicken nips at my hand.
"Shit!," I yell.
Jared comes running in. "You OK?"
"I got bit by that stupid chicken," I say.
"Oh yeah. I forgot to warn you. They bite." He smiles. "Good luck," he says then runs out of the barn.
I turn towards the chicken again and sigh. This is going to be a long morning.
