"I'm Lauren, your roommate." she said.

"You're my roommate?" Camila stated incredulously, "Oh, no, no, no! I can't live with you. This is not going to work out."

"What's the matter cupcake? Don't think you can handle me?" Lauren teased.

"No, I don't. And don't call me that! My name is Camila."

"Well too bad, cupcake. 'Cause I'm not going anywhere." the older girl declared as she started to unpack her things. Camila was fuming, but she wouldn't give Lauren the satisfaction to see it. She sat there quietly, hands resting in her lap. Lauren looked back at Camila and snickered- the girl wasn't fooling anyone, with her jaw clenched and the outline of a vein bulging out in her neck.

"What's the matter princess? Cat got your tongue?" she chuckled.

That was it. Lauren had just gotten here, and Camila was already sick of her. As Camila made her way out the door, she heard Lauren's chuckling get louder.

"Where you going sweetheart? I didn't upset you, did I?"

Camila took a deep breath and exhaled before turning around to look at her roommate briefly.

"My name is Camila, and I would really appreciate it if you could act civil for longer than five seconds." Then she left the room, slamming the door behind her. The girl needed some fresh air, and a little quiet definitely wouldn't hurt.

Camila ended up taking a very long walk. Walking was her favorite way to just ponder things that were bothering her. She thought about lots of things. Why it was so damn cold and she had been too flustered to think to grab a jacket. Why it had to be her that got the difficult roommate. Why she turned out being the way she was. What her parents would tell her to do: "This is unacceptable! Go to the office and demand for a roommate change! Our little girl is not going to be sharing a room with some delinquent!"

Camila chuckled softly at the thought of seeing both her parents so exasperated. The girl surprisingly found a peculiar sense of joy when her parents had their panties in a wad. Realizing that it was a little after midnight, Camila made her way back. It took her a little longer than expected, considering it was the girl's first time venturing out on campus at night. When Camila entered her dorm, there was no sign of Lauren, so she quickly got situated in her bed and tried to let slumber take her before the roommate would come back and more than likely say something else to set her off.

Camila woke up to her alarm and got ready for French, her first class, in a graceful manner. She noticed the shape of her roommate's body underneath many layers of blankets on the bed opposite of hers. All Camila could really see of Lauren was her dark brown, almost black, hair fanned out all over her pillow. When Camila got out of the shower, Lauren was still fast asleep, and she must have moved around because her face was now visible. The girl chuckled quietly at the sight. No matter how intimidating her roommate seemed, Lauren looked like a child, sleeping peacefully, innocently without a care in the world.

As Camila grabbed her backpack, she stopped in front of the door and stole another glance at the other girl's sleeping form, smiling to herself, before finally leaving the room.

Camila couldn't focus during any of her classes, Lauren's haunting green eyes plagued her thoughts. When she reached her dorm room around noon, Camila found Lauren still asleep in bed.
