I am so sorry for the late update! I've been slumped trying to keep up with school work and my mother just had surgery on her spine. But here's the chapter and I hope you enjoy it and that it is enough for you guys!

The woods were so peaceful at night. Maybe it was the wolf in me, but I loved the woods more than my own existence. Ever since I was a kid I dreamed of moving to Oregon to live amongst green trees and cold rain.

I looked at my watch to check the time, sighing as I thought that it was a good time to go home. It was already two in the morning on this cold Thursday night, and I was beginning to finally get tired.

My mind has been plagued with so many things for the last two days since Derek's offer to take me in. I was beyond grateful for his idea of having me live with him, but of course, I was hesitant. As much of a hellhole my house is right now, I still loved my dad. He was my only family left after my mom and... the accident.

He didn't know the story behind my blue eyes, and even though he reflected the same color I couldn't help but think he would judge me for taking someone's innocent life.

I sighed as I began the long walk home, kicking at the dry winter grass mindlessly.

A cold breeze kissed my already cold cheeks, causing me to shudder. The wind carried an eerily silence, causing my arms to lace in goosebumps. The bugs around me stopped their conversations and the soft mumble of life from the other woodland creatures went silent.

My eyes scanned the woods around me, and besides the unnerving silence, the trees around me stood normally. I shrugged off the silence to the animals sensing the wolf on me.

I continue to walk, counting my steps in some poor attempt to fill the void of stillness around me.

The wind picked up again, and instead of carrying silence, it carried a low growl. My head raised quickly, causing my hood to fall of of my head and onto my shoulders. I stopped, holding my breath and perking my ears up to listen to the sounds around me or the lack of sounds. I scanned the scenery around me once again, but this time more intently. I turned a full 360 before facing forward once again, and what I saw made my heart seize its beating for a couple of seconds.

"Oh fuck." was the only thing I could mutter out as I stared at the red eyes peering daggers into my soul. I gulped as the eight-foot-tall nightmare looked at me, its jaws open and leaking a mix of shinny slobber and thick red liquid. It's snout blew out a breath, causing a white fog to appear.

I gulped before I quickly understood the seriousness of the situation as I continued to be stared down by the alpha.

I let my pulse rise, along with my heartbeat. My ears grew along with the facial hair around my jaw. My teeth protruded out into thick fangs, my claws extending into sharp daggers. My eyes took on their signature blue hue, and I stared right back into the red eyes of the thing in front of me.
