In 1948, Edith Wills was traveling one night alone on the London Underground. She say opposite three people in an otherwise empty carriage. She settled down and looked up. The woman opposite was staring at her. Edith got out her book and started to read but every time she looked up, she caught the woman's gaze. The train pulled into a station and an elderly man got on and sat next to her. As the train pulled out, he leaned back and said in her ear, "If you know what's good for you, you'll get off at the next station with me.' Edith was scared but decided to get off anyway, hoping that there might be people around.

She left train with the elderly man at the next stop. The man said, "I didn't mean to scare you, but I'm a doctor. The woman sitting opposite you was quite clearly dead. The men at either side were holding her up."
