Once there was a little girl, Amy, whose grandfather had just died. She had loved him very much I missed him terribly. He was buried in a cemetery just a few hundred yards from her house, and she could see his grave for her bedroom window.

One night, her parents were going out and the baby sitter hadn't arrived. She was a very reliable sitter, so, trusting she would soon arrive, they kissed Amy goodbye and left. Hours passed and the babysitter had still not arrived. Amy began to worry. A storm was brewing outside. Thunder and lightning moved closer to the house and the wind started howling. Suddenly there was a flash of lightning and the power in the house went off, leaving Amy in darkness. The wind ripped the trees around and branches broke off, crashing against the house and falling to the ground. Alone in the dark, Amy was very scared.

Suddenly, the phone rang. She answered, hoping it was her parents or the sitter. Sounding far away, a voice came over the phone: it belonged to her grandfather. "Don't be afraid, honey. There's nothing to fear. You'll be safe. The storm will pass."
Then the phone went silent.

Amy went to bed happy, and slept well in spite of the raging storm outside. Her parents came home to find her sound asleep. They were horrified when the babysitter called the next morning to explain that her car had been blown into a ditch in the storm. When they woke Amy, she told them what had happened. They had a hard time believing her, but she smiled and pointed out of the window.

The phone line from the house was intact to the first pole, but then it had snapped. The cable drooped into the cemetery where it's end Lau across her grandfather's grave.
