AZAAN

Today being Saturday, I woke up with the intention of visiting a friend, I mean my one and only friend who was the only person I feel comfortable being around with apart from my mother and my step sister. We met In Cyprus. We both went there for our masters degree though we were studying different courses. He's studying chemical engineering while I was studying Architecture. He's been nagging that I should come and visit him.

Some minutes after Asr, I was seated on my prayer mat reciting my azkaar. The door of my room was opened and even without looking I knew who the person is. My mother of course. She sat beside me and patted my shoulder. I looked up at her and she gave me her beautiful and bright smile and I smiled back but didn't utter a word instead she did.

"Azaan dear you haven't eaten anything aren't you hungry?" She inquired.

"Maa I will visit a friend after Magrib he told me not to eat anything" I replied

"Really Azaan? You're really visiting a friend? You aren't joking right?" She uttered waiting to confirm what she heard from me and she already started tearing up. I looked at her with a blank emotion.

"Maa why are you crying?" I voiced. Though I'm numb to pain but I really don't like to see my mother crying.

She wiped away the tears and changed the topic "you never gist me about him Azaan so there's something that you can hide from Maa right?".

"No" I replied clutching her hands smiling. Even Albeit I feel nothing when I smile but I've learned that whenever I smile Maa seems to be happy and that's why I always smile at her even if I didn't utter anything to her.

"Will you be okay going alone or should I call Batool for you so that she will escort you" Maa ask worriedly.

"No Maa I will be fine Inshaa Allah"

"Okay then, take care and extend my regards to him I will be looking forward to meet him soon" She smiled and then stood up to leave.

"You should get ready and be going, don't stay long" she added and left without waiting to hear what I'll say. She knew I won't tho, probably that's why she left.

I ambulated to the bathroom and took a relaxed shower and then came out. I rubbed my skin with vaseline and waltzed to my closet. I wore a black long sleeve T-shirt and a blue jeans.

My phone started to ring I checked and saw it was Batool my step sister.

"Hamma are you in your room? I'm coming now" she said.

"I'm visiting a friend I will call you when I'm back"

"When did you started to have friends Hamma and I didn't even deserve to know right" she whimpered.

I mumbled a sorry to her because I knew she was sad at that moment. I know you will ask how do I know that. Well, Maa taught me about all the facial expressions and how do people react on feeling each. I knew when someone is happy or sad. Likewise when someone is angry or fearful. But for me I can only feel curiosity and a lot of confusions.
