River dropped me off before my mom had even arrived home. I was thankful that he didn't push me into telling him about anything instead he hugged me and promised me that he wouldn't let me go anywhere.

He couldn't keep that promise.

"Bye." I whispered as I unstrapped the seat belt of his Porsche.

"I'll see you tonight." He mumbled quickly before I got out.

"What?" I asked. "Didn't you hear me? I can't go back-

"I'll be at your window Joey. I won't let you get taken away from me." His tone was promising and for a second I found myself believing him.

"You're so stubborn Jolie."

I gave him a smile. "Okay."

"Okay?"

"Stop flirting with me River Dallas."

"Only if you want me to." he gave me that signature smirk that sent every girl into over drive...every girl that hadn't seen his real smile. I frowned slightly and nodded before I turned on my heel and walked briskly to my door step. I turned to wave good bye but I was met with the sight of my moms car coming into the distance. She hadn't seen me yet so I shooed River off. He quickly caught on and sped away as I ducked in the house hoping my dad didn't care for teen gossip amongst parents.

Although I was scared about getting sent back, I couldn't deny...

Sneaking around was exhilarating.

"Jolie." My mom called politely. I walked to the edge of the stairs and looked behind her.

"L-Luke." I looked behind him to see his parents looking at him like he was scum. A look I had seen a lot. I knew what it felt like to be under the gaze of that.

"M-Mr. and Mrs.Miles, h-hello." I said stepping up and smiling.

"Hello Joe. I'm so sorry on my sons behalf." Mrs.Miles spoke looking at me ashamed.

"Sorry for what?" My mom asked looking between us.

"She didn't tell you?" Luke asked in shock.

"Tell me what?" She demanded looking at me. "Don't tell me you're pregnant."

I flames at this. "N-no."

"The boy would never be so lucky." Mr.Miles said frowning. "He attacked her in the bathroom."

My mom looked at me then at them, "Joe was lying about that."

"No. Luke admitted it." She argued.

"Oh. Well it's okay. Kids are kids and all." She says brushing it off. I wanted to hit her. If this happened to Chloe she wouldn't be this calm!

"We talked earlier." I spoke interrupting the soon to be feud. "G-girls love playing jokes on people. I found myself on the butt of it." Luke looked at me in relief but didn't try to make a move on me.

"Luke's a good guy." I added.

"Well we are lucky you're so forgiving Joe. Poor girl. Do things like this happen often?"

"Look at the time!" My mother announced.

The Miles' got the point and bid their good byes to me but I did catch the eye roll from Mrs.Miles. I tried to stifle a laugh. When the door closed I beeline for my room until I heard my mom.

"A great actress Joe." She complimented. I felt the urge to smirk and thank her but I knew that was just River's influence on me.

"W-what do you mean?"
