My hair was down in long ringlets. She did my make up with everything from primer to a cat wing. I didn't look like Joe. I didn't look invisible. I looked pretty.

"Woah." She said looking at me in awe.

"You're beautiful Joe." I felt as if I was gonna cry. I had never been done up. I didn't dress like everyone else. I was more conservative. Like a turtle, I was always inclosed in my shell, but tonight, even if it were only for one night, I was gonna be a fox.

"Are you ready?" She asked taking a sip out of her CapriSun. I giggled and nodded standing up.

"Hell yeah."

Seth was loaded. And he was right. His house was flashy. It Resembled the Cullen house from twilight...just add another floor and paint it black.

There were cars lining back to back from the high driveway all the way to the ground parked long down the block. We had parked in someone else's driveway, after getting permission, so we wouldn't have to worry about getting blocked in.

We walked in and the party was already in full swing. There was drinking games and dancing, some on the furniture, and kissing and of course more drinking.

"Hey!" I looked to my left as saw Jake Foltry running toward Carter and entrapping her lips with his. He didn't even look twice at me before trying to pull her away.

"No I'm with Joe tonight." She mumbled pushing him slightly. He brought his eyes to me and they widened.

"This is not Joe Mitchell." he murmured. "This is a model."

I beamed under his compliment. "T-thanks."

"I think I saw River somewhere with Emmy." Emmy? He started searching the crowd and pointed to the blonde with her fingers against his neck laughing.

"No. It's not like that." He said it as if he had read my mind. "He's been trying to escape all night. She's crazy." I nodded still frowning. But I made no move. He looked like he was enjoying himself.

"Go talk to him Joe." Carter pushed smiling.

I shook my head. "Where's the drinks?"

"You drink?" They asked simultaneously.

"I surprise a lot of people." I mumbled.

"Kitchen." Jake said looking sad. I nodded and walked away.

I looked over at River again frowning to see he was locking eyes with me. His face lit up and without a word to Emmy he walked away from her and toward me. I walked faster to get to the drinks.

"Hey!" He called over the music. "You came!" I turned around to tell him off but I stopped when I saw the smile he was giving me. It made me want to smile too. Soon enough I felt my cheeks lifting upward.

"Hey." I said smiling.

"You matched me." He pointed out. He was right. He was wearing a pink polo button up and dark Levi jeans.

"If you wanted to be my date all you had to do was ask." I said smirking.

He looked taken back. He slid his arm around my waist and pulled me flush into him making me gasp. "You are my date. Every guy here already knows it too and if I may say so, I have the most beautiful date here tonight."

I felt my face light up and my smile grew ten times as wide. "Thank you." I said trying to hide my cheeks from him by making my hair fall as a curtain.

"Don't hide." He whispered turning me to face him. I frowned.

"I told you we can't-"

"This is an anti Chloe Mitchell party. None of her spies are here. I made sure of that. You and Charles are okay to be happy tonight without Chloe ruining it." I nodded smiling.

"But you're the most popular guy at school she's bound to find out."

"Jolie. When is your birthday?"

I looked at him confused. "May 26th." I answered. "When's yours?"

"April 11th."

"That's in a few weeks." I exclaimed.

"My point is. In less than two months you'll be an adult. Your mother won't be able to send you anywhere, control your clothes, your pill intake, or your boyfriend."

I opened my eyes in realization. "You're right." He beamed. Boyfriend? I registered his word choice later than i maybe should have. Did he see me as his girlfriend?

"We can deny this," he motioned between us, "for little over a month. Right?"

Could I risk it? What if she did find out? Would I be able to lie? And if I did get sent away, would it be worth it? Would River be worth the risk?

"River. You're a nice guy and all but..." I watched as his face fell and I knew I had to rap it up. "Do you honestly think you can deny this?" I said pointing to my body as I took a shot from the counter.

He broke into a huge grin, grabbed my waist pulling me into him so tight that I could feel everything, and he kissed me. He kissed me in front of everyone.

And this time he wasn't drunk.

**

"Take it easy Joe." I smiled up at Charlie.

"I'm the big sister you know?" I giggled.

"Yeah," he laughed. "The drunk one."

"How's he doing?" I asked ignoring him. I wasn't as drunk as he thought.

"Who?"

"You're boyfriend." I whispered. His face grew in shock.

"You know?" I nodded. "Kylie" has been receiving visits from you for a while now."

"And you didn't tell mom?" I gasped.

"I wouldn't tell her anything." I snapped. I suddenly felt angry. If anyone can keep a secret its me! Why does he think I'd tell her anything? She's the devil.

"But Chloe said-

"Chloe is a liar. She's a bitch who only wants herself to be happy. She doesn't care about you. I do! Don't let her do to you what she did to me." I walked away suddenly feeling angry. She turned Charlie against me by lying! I wanted nothing more than to confront her and beat her little blonde head in.

"Joey." I felt warm arms embrace me and lift me effortlessly into the air. I squealed and squirmed until I was back on the ground.

"Yes River?" I asked annoyed crossing my arms over my chest.

He grabbed my hand lightly in his own and led me toward the back door. "Come with me."

We walked along the garden trail until we reached a swing. It was private.

"I'm guessing you want to talk." I said as I sat beside him.

"Yes." He said grinning.

"About what?" I asked getting comfortable. Our talks barely lasted a short minute. More like hours.

"Us." He said simply.

I smiled. "What about us?"

He bit his lip. "We don't really know a lot about each other."

I frowned. "I guess you're right."

"I mean we know some but, Jolie...i want to know it all."he angled his body toward me so he could look me in the eyes. "I want to know your biggest fears, your favorite foods, the things that make you happiest..." He trailed off.

I thought for a second before responding. "Oblivion, spaghetti, and you." I said simply. His face lit up and for the second time tonight, I was kissing River.
