Naruto: A Different Life

Chapter Nine: Home

The next morning when Naruto woke he, not opening his eyes, replayed the conversation he had with Kat last night in his head. ‘I will be you family from now on.’ Did she really mean it? Naruto heart leaped at the possibility. Could it be true? Could he finally have a family; someone who cares about him in his life?

            A smile spread across his face when suddenly….

            “Naruto, my gosh! Get up already, there is an emergency!” Kat screamed from his doorway. Naruto’s eyes opened and he bolted out of bed.

            “What happened?” He demanded.

            She looked at him with fear filled eyes. Kats breathing was very heavy and she gasped out in terror, “I forgot to buy oranges yesterday! Now what are we supposed to have with our bacon and eggs this morning for breakfast?!”  Naruto stared at his new friend in shock for a minute before he fell to the floor laughing.

            “Oi, mister what do you think you are laughing at? This is a very serious matter! Oranges only get shipped here on every other Saturday! The stores might already be sold out! We must go and make sure that they still have some in store!” With that Kat dragged him out of the house without even letting him change out of the cloths he wore to bed.

            “Kat, I haven’t even gotten dressed yet!” Naruto protested as they ran wildly through the streets.

            She continued without slowing and screamed back at me, “Well that sucks to suck! I haven’t either!” As Naruto paid a bit more attention he saw that it was true. She was wearing an orange t-shirt that said ‘Let me sleep or die’ (scary much) on it, a pair of shorts with flying sheep (what the?) in them, and a pair of yellow slippers. Her hair was tangled in a messy bun and stuck out randomly in some places.

            Soon enough they reached a vender in a market and she skidded to a stop. She scanned the produce and sunk to the ground in defeat when she saw there was no oranges left. “Why does the Fruit God hate me? Why couldn’t people buy the bananas instead?” she moaned pitifully.

            “That you, Kat?” A man asked her. He was previously hidden by the fruits and seemed to be the one who worked at the cart. Kat looked up with anime tears streaming down her face.

            “Good morning! Nice to see your… depressed face this morning.” The man smiled at seeing Kat’s distressed face. “I didn’t see you yesterday. We had gotten the shipment of oranges and I expected you to be the first one to buy some. We are sold out now.” Kat groaned and laid back on the ground, her face buried in the dirt. “I guess it was a good thing that I saved some for you, isn’t it?” The man continued.  

            Kat leaped up to her feet and screamed, “Really! I can have oranges after all!!” Her face seemed ready to split in two with the giant hopeful smile that was spread across it. Everyone in the market was smiling as Kat leaped up in the air in victory as a box of oranges was handed to her.

            She turned to Naruto with her eyes twinkling with tears of joy. “Oh my gosh Naruto! Can you believe it? I- no we get to have oranges after all!”

            One of the people in the vicinity called out, “Hey Kat, who’s the kid?”

            “This is Naruto! He’s new to the Sand and I’m gonna ask if he can stay with me!” She said this with a crazy grin on her face and everyone laughed again.

            The same guy turned to Naruto and asked, “Are going to be able to survive with this crazy chick? I mean she is really nice, but completely insane.” At this Kat ran over and smacked him on the back of his head. She then started ranting at him about how she could be responsible and keep Naruto safe from anything from bullies to rouge ninja to bananas and was completely sane. This was amusing to everyone else who then sent Naruto smiles and watched the fight playing out in front of them.

            Naruto observed to whole spectacle and felt something inside of him. It was a feeling he had never experienced. He felt like he finally found a place where he could call home.

            “Gah, I forgot about breakfast! It will be cold by now! Come on Naruto!” Kat suddenly screeched and proceeded to drag Naruto back the way they had come.

            He heard more laughed and a few voices call out, “Bye Naruto!” and “Good luck!” Once again the thought popped into his head. I’m home.

Yes I do know that this was a very short chapter. I will update another chapter in a few days to make up for this short, semi filler chapter. I randomly had this come into my head so I felt like writing it. So meh! And if any of you are wonder yes, Kat is a teeny bit like me *cough Cough* Well I will do my normal rant in the next chapter since this one is so short!

P.s. thanks people for reading and telling me to update soon. and is some cases *looks at paper in hand* Threatend to tie me to a chair and eat my cookies in front of me. *raises eye brow* How did someone know one of my weaknesses so easily? Ta TA for now. (Accent  the second Ta)
