It's been two years since my father last punished me. If I make a mistake, he lets his men hurt me. I didn't show up for my training. I hurried over to Grandma's mansion. I require their assistance. I know it's a risk, but I don't have any other option but to face the consequences my father. I don't mind if my father murders me.

"Truvianne!" Chase exclaimed as soon as he saw me.

"What happened to you, Truvianne?" Hale grabbed my wrist and drew me inside Grandma's mansion. When we got inside, she bandaged my wounds as my cousins stared at me.

"I warned you—-"

"Chase, I must protect them, as do all the rest of you." I skipped ahead to what Chase had to say. It was grueling to hear what he was trying to convey. He was always reminding me to think about leaving that hellish mansion, but I certainly don't agree. If I really end up leaving, I'll have to do something first that would satisfy me.

He gritted his teeth and ended up looking at Crest. "What are your thoughts?" he inquired.

Crest was just glanced towards me from the couch.  "Allow her. She—"

"I won’t allow her."

Crest made a calm remark as he stared at our cousin. "She's 18, and she has a responsibility to know the truth about her father."

"We can protect ourselves as well as her!" Chase argued.

"No," I said, and everyone looked at me with a puzzled expression.

"What did you discover, Truvianne?" Crest inquired.

As Crest prompted me with a question, I pretty quickly smiled. My cousins are astute, and therefore, they can pretty much predict everything I do, except this time. Only Crest is aware.

"An uncertain truth that necessitates further independent inquiry."

When I mentioned the phrase "independent inquiry," they became even more interested, while Dhane and Layn cursed at me. After all, they're one of the most direct folks you'll ever meet. I just let them be and started to look for Grandma Syvianne, as that was my intention.

"Where's Grandma Syvianne?" I instantly queried solemnly for certain if our Grandma really wasn't present throughout the mansion.

However, they responded suspiciously, detailing the words "meeting" as well as "business." As I heard "business," my eyes narrowed. Seeing as Grandma by itself doesn't appoint meetings that she should convene, her secretary is typically always the one appointed to convene every meeting, regardless of whether it is important or not.

"Your father simply wants to become the successor," Hale did respond, seeing my expression.

Hale's response muzzled my doubts. As she laid it out, it made me even more perplexed about my questions. It doesn't make logical sense to me now that he got everything after achieving so much in such a shady manner. In my perception, he doesn't quite need Grandma's wealth to satisfy his greed and desire for malfeasance. But by that moment, we knew our parents were nowhere to be found. I'm not the only one who envies his or her parents' affection, but also theirs. I let out a deep sigh and braced myself against my thoughts.

"Unless you want to fight my Father, you can use me," I assured them firmly.

"Enough of your nonsense, Trubel," Chase cautioned.

"How come you can't just—-!"

"Look at you! You're covered in bruises, scars, and injury! Stop—!"

Receiving his words caused me to forfeit my line of thought. I clenched my teeth and stared at him silently. From the beginning, he knew why I had these fucking bruises, scars, and injuries! I bit my tongue slowly, expecting myself to remain calm, but it didn't work. Chase continues to insist with me while I attempt to keep on to my thread. My cousins began to separate us in order to prevent what happened next. They derived us with trepidation, without Chase having noticed.
