Year 1938 - Valerie Smithe - The Isle of The Falls
It's been about twenty years since the first world war passed, everyone is predicting that the second world war will begin very soon. I had gotten another journal since the war, my other journal was old, used and I had filled it all up. I've been writing in my journal every day since the war began and came to an end. Every day from the beginning of the war and when they gave me the job, all the way to the end to when I had to run from the officers that were chasing me down for information about hiding spots we used during the war.
At first, when I came here, I wanted to put all the information that I still had from the war into a crate and lock it up. Therefore, I did. I put all the information on the hiding spots and even some of the newspapers I was in before the war started. I hoped that one day these items will be useful for a journalist in the future. In a separate crate, I put a few of the projects that I was in and I put the documentations from the war as well as my project with James. My expression was saddened when I saw the letter that James wrote as a threat to me. I don't know when my coworkers and I became very distant.
I put all the contents into the crates and even put one of my old typewriters next to the crate. I locked the door to the attic and swore to never go inside there again. I wrote about the codes in my journal and a clue to open the lock on the doorknob. After some thought about it earlier, I decided to just make the code my name. Valerie.
Twelve years ago, I gave birth to a wonderful daughter. I gave her to her father and grandparents to take care of.
It's simply too much of a risk to keep her with me.
I've heard that they are taking good care of her and she is now about to have her twelfth birthday in a few weeks. I hope that all is well with her. I hoped to give her something special this year, so I gave her my journal from the war. I hope that the journal will be passed on one day to my grandchildren.
One year later a volcano on The Isle of The Falls erupted, all that was known on the island was soon forgotten by many around the world. The island had earned the name, "The Forgotten Island."
