I had just gotten off the plane to The Isle of The Falls.
The place here is a bit wrecked but is still livable and there is still beautiful scenery here. I thought to myself.
I realized I was now on the way to my grandmother's house. The place was in the middle of the forest. Surprisingly, it wasn't as damaged as the rest of the island. In fact, this place was a delightful sight to see, considering this was an island that was destroyed years ago.
The house was surrounded by trees of all sorts and was just a few minutes away from a waterfall in the middle of the forest. The house itself was clearly abandoned and was most likely not lived in since my grandmother. The hinges on the door were worn out but the door was still in its place. The stairs were still usable other than all the dust that had gathered up throughout the years.
After investigating the house some more, I got to the place that interested me the most: my grandmother's office. I did some looking around, I found a bookshelf that was hiding a door. I assumed it was either another room or it was connected to the attic. There were documents scattered. the around the room in various different places. After looking at a few of the documents, something on the ground had caught my eye.
It was my grandmother's necklace.
The necklace that I saw in one of the photos my mother had shown me before I came. The only family photo my mother had. The necklace was placed in the corner of the room near where the attic door was. I had tried to open the door before, but it was locked. It made me curious.
What was up there? Why would my grandmother lock the door? Is there something up there? Why was it kept behind a bookshelf? Where was the key?
After many failed attempts at opening the door, I eventually gave up and started to look for the key. The key was hidden behind the file folder cabinet. As soon as I entered the key and spun it, the lock made a clicking sound. The door that was locked was now opened, and behind it was a long hallway that leads to yet another door. On the doorknob was a bunch of writing in a type of gibberish, that I was sure had to be another language. Maybe the language they spoke on the island. On my left next to the door was a pin pad that looked like any other ten key numeric pin pad you would normally see. I looked at the doorknob again. No luck.
I decided that I should go back to the study and look for more clues there. Taking the long walk through the hallway, I made my way back to my grandmother's study room. I started to look through all the files my grandmother had left behind. I found what looked like her old journal. I quickly flipped through the pages of the journal. At the very back of the journal, I found a secret decoder.
Is this what my grandmother expects me to use to decode the doorknob? But how am I supposed to use it?
