Emma
Okay, ice cream, eggs, milk, bread, chocolate, and pancake batter. Perfect now I have everything I need to make breakfast tomorrow. I smiled happily to myself as I began gathering my bags. Normally, whenever I go out to do errands something bad always happens. I walked out the store with a little hop to my step glad to be out of the hot store and into the crisp autumn night air. Tonight is going to be a good night.
“Watch out!”
“Wha-ugh!”
Ow, my back, above me I heard a soft groaning from the person who fell on me. She quickly jumped off me with a quick mutter of “sorry” as she began to frantically look around; I absentmindedly began to survey her profile. She was about 5 foot 5 with a lithe curvy pear shaped body frame. She wore a jacket over a long sweater with leggings and riding boots. Her skin was a creamy white tone and was clear of any blemishes or marks; her honey blonde hair was tied into a long Dutch braid over her shoulder stopping at her armpit. Crap I was staring at her for too long I quickly looked away to busy myself with picking up my bags, and checking to see what damage has been done to the groceries. Damn the eggs were smashed, the bread is squished, and the milk gallon is dented, but still fine. While I was busy mourning over the death of my groceries I happen to notice that the girl that fell on me was shouting at a streetlamp.
“Leo! Come down from there right now,” she shouted at the light.
Okaaaay so she’s crazy I should probably leave before she starts yelling at me too. However as I was picking up my mutilated bags I saw a blur of black jumping down from the streetlamp and into the girl’s arm. The girl was now cradling a small black cat, Leo, I’m assuming, in her arms.
“Honestly, how did you manage to land there of all places,” she question the cat as if it could answer her back.
Leo’s mouth opened and for a second I thought he was actually about to answer her, but then he and I locked eyes. Noticing me standing there Leo let out a soft hiss.
“Huh, Leo what’s wrong? Why aren’t you answering me,” the girl’s brows furrowed in concern as she followed her cat’s field of view to see what had him so troubled. When her eyes met mine the girl visibly flinched. Was she still feeling guilty for crashing into to me?
“O-oh, you’re still here,” she stuttered, “look I’m, really sorry for falling on top of you. I still can’t fly- I mean I’m still new to the area so I was a little frazzled and accidentally ran into you.”
Fly? That what she said right, but what does she mean she can’t fly. She’s just a girl she shouldn’t be able to fly in the first place. Ah, wait no let me not get too involved she seems a little on the crazy side, so it’d probably be best if I just smile, accept her apology, and leave quickly.
“Oh that? Don’t worry about it; I’m fine after all so it’s all good. Well, I’ll be going now, bye.”
Perfect now to make my escape! However a loud yowl stopped me in my tracks. Before I could stop myself my head whipped back towards the girl, who was trying to keep her cat within her arms.
“Leo! What is wrong with you?!”
Leo continued to frail around in her arms despite her protests, and for a second I could have sworn he pointed at me with one of his paws. I guess the girl seemed to realize what her cat was trying to communicate because suddenly she was staring at me in awe. Her hand dove into her jacket pocket rummaging around until she found what she was looking for. She pulled out a flat rectangular shaped object, and I noticed the back light up but I couldn’t see what she was looking at from my end despite the PDA(?) being transparent.
