"Okay so remember how I said not all magic is bad? Well this is a prime example: truth bubblegum. Whoever eats a piece of this gum will be forced to tell the truth for five hours. The gum is packaged like any regular gum found on earth and has six pieces inside the pack. The plan is to give a piece to Elliott and ask him about how he feels about you, if he likes you then bam instant boyfriend but if he doesn't then I'm here to help you find your proper soul mate."
"Wait so there's a possibility that Elliott isn't my soul mate."
"Yeah, it depends on the person; some people can end up getting crushes on thousands of people and can date half of those people before they finally find their soul mate. However there are some lucky ones who unknowingly find their soul mates instantly. You don't have to use it if you don't want to."
Damn I didn't even think of the possibility that he wasn't my soul mate, I stared at the pack of gum in my hand, so this will answer everything once and for all. I'll finally know how he feels.
"Okay Amia I'll use it, wish me luck."
I decided to wait until my last period class (English) to give it to him, so all I have to do is go up to him after class and ask him if he wanted a piece of gum then after he takes it I'll ask him how he felt about me, if he says he likes me (I hope he does) then I'll confess and we'll date. It was a perfect plan.
But apparently faith hates me. It was now 8th period a few minutes until 9th period and I only had one piece of gum left. It all started in Global when Melody said she needed some gum because she was afraid that her breath smelled bad since she ate a sandwich with pickles and onions earlier. The second she started asking for gum the alarms in my head should have went off but I was too distracted to notice her going through Clementine's bag. It was already too late to stop her because once she got to my bag she'd already found the gum.
"Ha I knew one of you was holding out on me, see Clem Emma had gum this whole time and she didn't tell me, how rude." She already had a piece in her mouth before I could protest.
"What flavor is it? I want some." Clem snatched the pack from Mel's hands just before I could grab it.
"It doesn't say a flavor but it tastes really good."
"Guys stop I was saving that gum for emergencies don't take anymore."
"Chill out Em next time one of us gets gum we'll make sure to give you some." I flinched when Clem ended her sentence with a pop of the gum; once she handed the pack back to me I shoved it deep into my bag. They don't seem to be acting any different, did it really work?
I was looking worriedly between the two of them when the teacher walked and told us to take out our homework from the night before.
"Crap I forgot to do the homework." Clem buried her face into her hands as everyone began to pass up their homework.
"Well it's too late now just lie about why you didn't do it."
Once all the papers were handed to the teacher she began to call out kids who didn't do the assignment one by one. When she got up to Clem I already had shrunken down into my desk. Uh oh, here we go.
"Clementine, why don't you have the homework?"
I saw Clem open her mouth and I knew she already had a lie on her lips, but then she began to blink and shake her head quickly like she was trying to clear her mind. When she looked back towards our teacher her expression was blank.
