A/N: Lot of explaining in this chapter that whole chunk of text in italics is flashback and the text in 'bold' with names are text messages. Enjoy
Emma
"Okay you've been smiling all day what's up?" Clem asked as she poked me in the arm as we walked towards English.
"I'm just so glad to finally know that I have a relative." Obviously that was a lie the real reason that I was so happy was because now I don't have to worry about so much anymore. During lunch Amia had explain more of her role to me and what her presence here meant to me- she also told me more about her people and realm which was nice since it made me feel better to know about the person who'd be living with me from now on.
xoxoxoxo
I sat across from Amia in the cafeteria, she wasn't saying anything and I was just staring at the table hoping that it could somehow make the situation easier, but thankfully Amia started talking first.
"So you probably still have a lot of questions and I'd be happy to answer all of them but I need to know exactly what you want to know."
"Okay so how about you explain all this cupid stuff to me."
Her eyes lit up at the chance to talk about her origin, "Well first thing first, we have a ranking system."
"Is that like a caste system?"
"Sort of, your ranking does decide a lot of your life but if you want you could go against it with no penalties. Our ranking system goes from A to C."
"Why letters, do they stand for something? Like A for awesome or C for crappy?"
She giggled softly at my comment, her laugh sounded like bells.
"No it's a ranking of power; A is the elite while C is the less powerful. A ranks are the 'elites' since they are very intelligent, loyal lovers, and very powerful since they can cast spells, charms, and potions- which are very complex. B ranks are the 'balanced' since they have an average intelligence level, can be disloyal or loyal depending on the person, and have a standard amount of power since they can specialize in spells and charms. C ranks are the 'less powerful' or the 'quick pleasures' since they only seem concerned with finding pleasure no matter how small or quick. They have a fairly low intelligence, are mostly known to be unfaithful and will switch lovers constantly without a care but some are different, and as their name implies, are the less powerful since they specialize in charms only. "
"So when you say 'specialize' does that mean that they can't perform other forms of magic? For example can a B rank make a potion?"
"Magic takes up energy so all ranks can perform every form of magic but it's not recommend for certain rankings to try since it could be dangerous. If a B rank tried to make a potion the worse that could happen is that the person would pass out for a day or more and the best is that they'll need to rest for awhile. But if a C rank tried to perform a potion then the worse is that they die from exhaustion while the best is that they need to be hospitalized for a few weeks. That's why certain ranks specialize in certain forms of magic. A ranks can make high quality potions in an abundance while their charms and spell just a little are above average, B ranks can cast spells that are so high quality that you'd think they were permanent, while C ranks charms can last for longer amounts of time than anyone else's."
"Do all the ranks interact with one another or do they stay within themselves?"
"We're a peaceful society so there's no hate between those of us raised in the Cupid Realm, but some who were raised on earth are a little bitter towards us since they're banished from our Realm by the Guardians."
